what cars did you consider before the rx8?

just wondering what cars you guys had in mind before settling for a rx8...

since the car is in the $40,000 range, there are alot of cars out there for eg. a 2nd hand bmw, benz, lexus, s2k, just to name a few

Acura TSX.

Not quite comparable, but it would have been my practical choice.

Lucky my less practical side won.

Looked seriously into the G35C and liked it a lot until I drove it. I didn't fell as "in control" as when I was in the 8. I guess it was because the car is a lot bigger, etc.

None.

Was driving my '83 FB until October last year. Had a look at the 350z, but really wasn't impressed by the design.

traded in our RX8 for a G35 coupe due to gas mileage/ flooding issues. Thrilled with reliability, 30mpg & 600km range but not as much fun to drive. I think I'm getting too old for all the drama associated with owning an 8.

Considered seriously looking at an RX-7, preferably a '93 or '94 but when I weighed that what I had read about them needing the engine rebuilt before 100K and that they were only a two seater...then thought about the 350Z but it was also a two seater...considered looking for an Acura RSX, it had a back seat, but, looked like a sedan...then I checked on the RX-8, checked on insurance, then thought about the Mazda 3 and 6 but decided they were too slow...so, how could I go wrong with the RX-8. Decision made. I have no regrets what so ever...except for the sale and a few details like that, it has nothing to do with the cxar it's self. :D

350Z --- but when I drove the 8, I knew it wouldn't be close. Didn't even bother to test drive the z.

Cheers

Nothing... I've been following this car from original concept and the engine since they had it in the Rx-01. I knew I wanted the Rx-8, it was just a matter of when.

I considered the Honda S2000 last year as I was already driving a convertible 2 seater (Miata). Then I saw the G35 coupe and tried like heck to swing the finances, without success. I still think it's a beautiful car and well worth the money.

I'd seen the RX-8 in the past but wasn't ga-ga over them. That is...Until I saw one in Titanium. Resistance to the 8 was immediately futile

It's 40k before taxes in Canada.

I had considered the 350Z, the Crossfire and the Audi TT. I needed something sporty since my 99 miata was getting old. I also needed something practical for newlyweds planning a family in the near future. 350 and crossfire only have two seats, so no go. The TT is only a 2+2 so not pratical.

The 8 has backseats and freestyle doors and packs a little punch, didn't take long to sell my wife on the idea.

I guess that I could have considered the sti too but it doesn't have the eye candy factor.
