It may be a little childish to ask this question.
I know RX-8 is not designed for racing.
But I wanna know the Max. speed of RX-8 from your experience.
My max. speed was 176km/h.
But I don't usually drive that fast~~~I often drive under the speed limit.
How fast did you drive? Pls share your experience~!
No matter how fast you drove before, drive safely from now on!

p.s. I, personally, don't agree people to race on the street or drive over speed-limit.

 

132mph in 5th gear and let off in fear of getting pulled over. Not too worried bout traffic because it was 2am on the Detroit Freeway and no traffic at all.

 

Part of my motorcycling roads just outside of Georgetown can be used for that sort of thing...few patrols, lots of curves and hills, and long straights with no traffic and great sightlines. Lets just say that in some sections, a crazy 8 driver can probably reach about 220KPH before needing to slow for a curve

you can really hit 166km/h on 2nd gear?? isn't speed a linear function with rpm on a set gear? like if on 2nd gear at 3000rpm, you are at 35km/h, and at 4000rpm, you are at 47km/h, wouldn't you only hit about 105km/h at 9000rpm?

215km/h unfortunately you run out of road damn quick at that speed.

Interesting note the RX-8 speed limits you to 140km/h when your low fuel light is on (probably a good thing)

 

I went up to 225 km/h one Sunday morning southbound on the 404.....but backed off because of some traffic. The car was running just as smoothly as if it were going 125

I've pinned 5th gear at 240kph (147mph), beeper going.

At that speed, if I shift to 6th, it just steadily loses speed, so 5th is max for me.

I hit about 6500 rpm in 6th gear, too busy to look at the road so never knew what speed that is.

it's funny that my 99 si had the same max .. but ok .. well i only got up to 125 .. dont speed much anymore since our dumb *** state gvmt keeps hiring cops and lowering speed limits .. somebody should make real study of how many accidents that causes but that it the system

 

190+.. i think i was close to 197-9km/hr when I saw the speed and slowed down.. i was probably on 4rth gear.. about to enter the high RPMs... after about 5-10 seconds.. i slowed down easily by engine braking and took the exit off the highway.


but.. i behave now like a good boy.

I ran 235km/h in 5th turning about 8750rpm, going 407 westbound to Hamilton at 2am.

 

I pegged 5th at about 9300 rpms, banged 6th and saw 254 km/h, still had more in it but it was slow to pick up more speed so I let off, this was with a ferrari 550 tailgating me, at that point I let him by and he probably hit 300 and disappeared
