Hey guys I'm replacing my transmission soon due to a weak second gear synchro I was wondering where I could get redline tranny fluid in the gta. I was debating between amsoil or redline. Thoughts? Thanks alot!

I would really reccomend against Redline in our climate. I would look for Eneous oil, and if it's too difficult to find, order it online.

My buddy Dave at Dave's Garage in Oakville can order the Eneos oil. That's what I run and my tranny feels great. I believe BHR has a write up on their website about running the Eneos in their tranny's.

This is his website if you want to contact him.

Well I think they are all rated at the same viscosity, but regardless, the redline is horrible for colder climates... you can feel the synchro's struggle and no where near the smoothness in other oils upon startup. Why would you risk damaging something each time you start the car in order to have "ultra slick gear shifts" when it's at operating temperature.

Getting the eneous or staying stock will cure that, and the eneous will probably outperform both when at operating temp.

I switched to redline when I got my car last year, before it I had a grind in 2nd gear when it was cold. After I switched I never had it again, I have nothing but good things to say about redline.

Now as to where to get it, I know you can buy it at the Pacific Mall for a decent price. I know a few places out on the east end but that probably won't help you much.

You can get at many online retailers, it's not hard at all to find, maybe try a google search next time.

Not only does this not make sense but has no factually evidence behind it just your so called "know how"

There is however actually facts and research that has been done proving redlines worth in all climates and is one of the most commonly used brands in track and autoX vehicles.

Use redline in my son's 09 R3 and in my 800hp GT500. Works great and I have nothing but good to say about redline products.

Anecdotal? Sure, but that's what a forum is for. Lol

2 quarts is all you need. I think the tranny is 1.8 or 1.9. That leaves some in case you spill a bit.

I got mine here..Precision Tuning Motorsports

Scarborough Mazda also carry them..

Try to search "redline" in the forum as some people use 100% MTL and some mix them with MT-90?..
I dont have any problem using Redline with 33k km right now..
It also fixed the hard shifting from 1st to 2nd gear in cold days.

This is based on first hand experience correct?

These guys all seem to have first hand experience and have a completely opposite opinion.

Just curious what experience local folks have had with Amsoil Severe Gear 75 90in their transmission. That was my fluid replacement plan for the spring.

Well to each their own then; some people feel and observe things much better than others. You will also almost always feel a better shift when you change your oil to fresh oil anyway, so bias will be there. I'm speaking from my experiences.

It begs the question though, why is Eneos feel that much better in comparison on almost all counts? I know I won't be going back to Redline.

I run the Eneos in my diff as well. I've also been running Eneos in my engine for the past 25000kms. I am however switching to the new motor oil Pettit racing sells. I don't think it's on their website yet but Cam Jr showed it to Scottish and I when we were there back in November. The Pettit oil is 15w40, it's what Cam recommends for the rotary.

I had the same thing happening as well. I just swapped out my tranny and diff fluids to redline. Smooth and no more grind going into 2nd when cold.

Take care.

I've been using Redline Diff & Tranny for years never any issues. My R3 got swapped with some generic when I bought it (****) but I'll be swapping it out this spring to Redline. It's also in my FD.

I used Redline MTL for the tranny and Redline 75-W90 for the diff. Also heard good things about Motul.
