Traction light came on for a second after hard shift....
Hey guys,
I was redlining on second, shifted to third and accidentally let out the clutch to early so it grabbed pretty hard and my traction light on the dash came on for a second and disappeared. It's been driving fine ever since but I'm a bit concerned about any damage that may have caused....after my whole clutch mishap thing, I'm wondering how fragile our parts are! :o
Anyway, I think the light came on because the sudden jerk of the car as I dropped the clutch by accident to early caused a rear wheel spin that kicked in the traction perhaps?
Do you think there could be any damage to the clutch/flywheel/tranny when hard shifts come in accidently like this or accidental early drop of clutch on high rpm's. How durable are our parts?
Thanks,
Ben.

did you grind the gear?
if not, probably no damage and the light was simply telling you that one wheel lost traction and the system intervened.

If you've ever driven on ice, you'll have seen this like crazy. After last winter, my shifting is 1000x smoother.
Can't say for sure, but I think it's unlikely you damaged anything. Obviously, don't make a habit of it
