I got my from Airport Mazda on Rexdale...used to be on Albion Rd.

The service manager there doesn't seem to care much or at least don't know much about recalls, etc...

Nu 8 soon!

Here in Ajax but work in Markham

Supposed to be here in 2 weeks or so and hopefully the wait wont kill me. I've been out of town on business most of the last 4 weeks since I ordered it (Red GT, Man) and it hasn't been on my mind too much...until the other day.

Saw/spoke to another guy in Markham that had a Red same one and the itch is back...I can hardly wait now.

Wouldn't mind getting together with a bunch of guys in the summer.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

I live and work downtown Toronto. I have followed the development of the 8 for years and owned a Black 1990 RX7 since 1993 and so I'm a long time rotary fan. I picked up my Titanium Grey GT 6-MT with moon roof April 1st, glad it wasn't a joke. Even though I've been driven by Wankel power for the past 12 years I am blown away by the sheer enjoyment of driving this car. It's not like driving, it's like a totally different experience. This is also my first post to the forum, I've been following since the summer.

see you on the road

Roxy 04-06-2004 01:40 PM

Hi there!

New to the forum -- just picked up my Winning Blue GT with 6M and moonroof last week -- and thought I would announce my arrival here, among my fellow Canucks :)

Love the car and love the service at the place I bought it, Avante in Richmond Hill. The guys there really seem to know and love cars and treat my baby the way I would if I had the time and knowledge to work on it myself.

Car was delivered with the latest flash (M?) so it drives smoothly, with crisp response and outstanding tractability (for a rotary).

So if you see a nice blue 8 with a spoiler and front and rear crests zoom by, honk -- it's porbably me, LOL!

Ron_Jeremy 04-14-2004 11:00 AM

hi guys...

i live in pickering and work in the oshawa area... my baby is black (manual) GT w/o the nav. got the summer tires back on (yesterday) and got a dent pulled from my door (courtesy of a sam's club shopping cart)...she's got 21,500 km already and is ready for more zaino very soon...looking forward to seeing everyone this summer...

TODreamer 05-01-2004 06:00 PM

I'm from Toronto...live just down the road from the Morningside Mazda dealership and i WISH I owned an 8...Hence my online name lol.

Hopefully Next year I will be picking up a Titanium Grey GT

Saint75 05-03-2004 08:15 PM

I'm new to the form as well.. as being new to Toronto.. Just moved here actually from montreal on a job transfer not that long ago.. +just pick up my Titanium GT the other day... AWESOM Car!!!.. Nothing bad whatsoever to say!... I can't sleep at night anymore.. ;)

Was just wondering if anyone else is in the Newmarket/Aurora area?

Chris1970 05-08-2004 07:57 AM

I'm located downtown Toronto - drive a Titanium GS 6MT and absolutely LOVE it.

Have only seen 4 other 8s on the road since last August - Blue, Titanium, Silver and Black. Think it's cool that there are so few - we're unique!

HK.RX888 05-08-2004 04:42 PM

I drove my black 6spd around bloor n yonge while visiting TO last thanksgiving...and i broke a lot necks just driving around. I was suprised that there wasn't a single rx8 then (that's why ppl turn their heads so far maybe) but now i'm glad there are more. I will be in TO for june and lil bit of may. I also wanted to ask where you guys get ur rims and other aftermarket parts and where u install them. thx

I have only seen 1 yellow 8 on Davis near main at some electronics store... then haven't seen anymore for the past few months..

I should see (hopefully) a few when i take a drive down to Montreal for the long weekend coming..

I've seen three regularly in Newmarket/Aurora. One blue, one Titanium (maybe you??) and one black - I've seen the black one twice in the Home Depot on Bayview. The Mazda Speed 8 that DWM is building is going to run in the Targa Newfoundland....body kit, suspension, rims/tires.

SuckerPunch 05-10-2004 10:58 PM

Live in Markham. Work at Yonge and Steeles. Picking up my 8 this coming Friday...can't wait. I would also be in for a meet... in fact im thinking about putting together a show and shine / Gran Turismo tournament at one of the stores in my district...Sony is up for it so far. What do you guys think? Also anyone in an official toronto rx-8 club?

Saint75 05-10-2004 11:42 PM

Show and shine eh? sounds like fun.. count me in...
Congrats on the 8... only a few more days for you... I felt your excitement... :) I've had mine for a few days now... hell I'm still on the dealer's tank of gas... and loving it!

SHABS-RX8 05-13-2004 07:15 PM

Hi,

I am a new member just joined in a couple of hours ago. I did however get my RX-8 in May 2003. Was one of the early birds.
Drive my car on the 410 From Brampton to Etobicoke every day & love every minute of it . Except for a few crazys!! that want to pull up to it real close!! that bugs me.

Getting to more technical stuff I wanted to mention that on a fill up of about 45-46 Litres of premium I get around 325 to 350 Kms. ( about 11.3 Litres/100 Kms) mostly highway. Seems like some of you guys are getting a lot less granted on how hard you drive it. Beleive it or not the dealer tells me I should be getting 9.2 L /100 Kms Highway & 12.9 L /100 Kms Street .......not true. I am still not close to those numbers. I was also told that the rotary loves the warm weather so its gets a bit better as the ambient temp. goes up during the summer months.

Also had a chat with the service manager about the re-flash programme on the ECU update. I told him that me car idles a bit rough at times....which is does and that the car is running real rich. I have excessive amounts of soot build up every day. I know the rotary burns oil but I think my car is running extra rich. The dealer tells me he will check it out and if needed will re-flash my ECU.

Sorry fo the long message but I had a few thoughts I wanted to sent out.

DECAL DUDE 05-18-2004 12:23 PM

You will be seeing another in the Newmarket/Aurora area, we (wife's car) picked up the car from DWM on May 8th. Velocity Red GT with 6-MT...no sunroof, I am to tall.
