I currently have the 2 back windows and the rear window tinted with 6%, but I've seen quite a few cars in Calgary that have the front windows done too. I know in Vancouver this is illegal, so I was a bit surprised.

Does anyone know the definitive tinting laws in Calgary?

 

My understanding is that it's illegal here too, from a conversation I had with a police officer a few years ago. However, _my_ impression (not his) is that it's not enforced.

 

It is illegal here too.....At least that's what the cop who pulled me over for it said. Gave me a warning and said to get it off the car......

 

woah Rick....that's crazy. from my last trip to Phoenix, I thought it was like a city bylaw that you HAD to have your front windows tinted sooooo many fully tinted cars there.

 

Yes, its actually illegal, but it depends on how much they are tinted and for what you get pulled over for. You will most likely not have any problems if its just that, but if you are doing 50 over the limit there is a very good chance you would get the ticket for the tinted windows as well. The charge reads something like "Operating motor vehicle altered from original manufacturer's specifications" or something like that. I think its a 115$ or so. But like I said, its how dark they are. If you have limo tint, well what did you expect. Keep it lighter and nobody will know the difference. I had all the windows on my last car at about 20% or so and never had a problem.
