Thumbs up and other things

On the way home from the dealership in Acton I was driving along the 401 when I noticed a red 2nd Gen RX-7 "hovering" around my car, when he passed me the driver gave me a big thumbs up - the rotary is back!!!

On Steels Avenue a driver in a Honda Civic passes me on my right hand side, rolls down his window, sticks his head out the window and looks back at my car. This was all done while still driving! Talk about a rubber-necker.

While driving on the QEW I as followed by a driver in a BMW for about 10 minutes. He finally passes me and I notice that he has a camcorder in this hand videotaping me and my car.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

I had a few "thumbs up" on the DVP last thurs nite (while heading into the downtown core). I just got back from my trip to Montreal ....lots of rubbernecking on the drive there and back... got "thumbs ups" from a series of motorcycle dudes (in sport bikes) as well... i dont mind the attention as long as no one's coming within harms way of my 8!

I had a "scary" experience yesterday.

I'm driving toward home depot talking to my g/f as she is reading the instructions for the garage door opener I just bought.

My window is down when I heard "FAT CAR!"

LOL, scared me for a second, I look over "Thanks!"

hehehe.

I'm starting to get used to the questions and thumbs up at stop lights.

I was driving back home on the Gardiner EXPWAY this past sat, and I saw a 1st gen rx7. He was more excited to see the car then I was to drive it. lol

Goodtimes

I had a bag boy take my groceries "hostage" so he could see my car. I pay the cashier and turn around to pack my groceries, and he's got them all packed and is holding them, ready to take them out to the car for me.

At least he remembered to pack the eggs seperately...:D

Similar experiences here. Lots of thumbs up and head turnings :-). I have had many compliments and discussions about the car at various spots around town. 7-11, car wash and the supermarket just to name a few (hell even people around my neighbour hood refer to me as "that guy with the Mazda" :-)

I have had many. Have about 2500 kms now. One time coming out of a restaurant, a guy was checking the car out. He gave me his busines card and told me to give him a call if I needed him. He was an ex-Copper.

The funniest though was an old lady (must have been in her late 70's) pulled up alongside of us in Gravenhurst driving a fairly new Mustang giving us big thumbs up and a very big grin. Both my wife and I chuckled at this.

So far I've got thumbs up from all sorts of folks including a Boxster S and a Prowler. A funny side-effect I've found though is that people will pull up to the side to see the car. But they're in the lane I need to get over so I can make an off-ramp. I'll slow down and slow down with my blinker on to get over and they continue to hover. Eventually they'll speed up and get out of the way, but it's a strange problem to deal with.

I've now had two experiences where accidents were almost caused by my 8.

First one was at a four way stop, where a guy was looking at my car, and started rolling through the intersection prior to allowing another car to finish his turn. He abruptly stopped short of hitting the car, and had a childish dumb look on his face...but still managed to flash me the "thumbs up" before leaving.

The second was at a major intersection near Futureshop in Burlington, where a guy was turning left in front of me, and actually slowed to a near stop while turning to check me out in the oncoming lane. Horns started blaring, as the light had turned red by the time he woke up.

This car rocks

I had all those thumbs up, and people just starring, and what kind of mazda is that question. Also had a strange one at home depot, I now park the car away from other cars like really far offm so I dont get those dents in the door, anyways , i'm parking the far away, and i car arrives and parks right next to me , so the engine was still on, so I moved it. The guys get out of there car, big muscle guys, and start walking towards me, but I hadn't noticed them I was still looking where to park, so I moved the car once again, and the guys changed directions and noved towards my car again. anyway got out , and blablabla same old question all over..

A couple of guys in a Jeep followed me home, just to get some details! I'm afraid to leave the car alone for long periods of time!!

Today I was parked at a tire shop, at a fairly busy intersection, I'm standing beside my car when this guy flyes down the road at about 60Km/h racing for the turning green. He slows down, sticks he head WAY out the window and yells "Is that the RX8?" I yell Yeah, for about 20 seconds he wasn't even watching where he was going! He was waiting for my answer!

Well in vegas one lady fell off a really high curb while checking out my car while walking. Everyone rushed to help her i was too but i felt so bad and didnt want to make her feel more weird.

Some guy while on the 60 during rush hour parked in the lane adjacent to me and started asking me how my car was etc while other cars were waiting behind him.

There has been others too like also when in vegas a Viper driver looked over at the light because people on the sidewalk were looking and pointing at the 8. I guess he wanted to see what all the hub bub was about.

It goes on and on hehe 2 kids already have said either that the rx8 is sweet. also asked if it was the one from x men hehe kinda cool.

Weird thing is most of that was during my vegas trip..... It was a nice trip! Went there ate at paris buffet and came home 30 mins later lol! I love this car..
