It's amazing how many cops they have on speed patrol rather than cleaning up the streets.

DON'T ignore cars that are parked on the shoulder. Reportedly heavily used in Quebec, Canada, there will be a cop running a radar gun on the shoulder of the road, then signal another cop ahead to pull over violators. Don't assume it is just an unfortunate motorist whose car suffered a break down. It might have a cop inside holding a radar gun.

seen this happen at York. Female cop in a broken *** civic, was radaring.

DON'T get a "cop magnet" car next time you buy a car. Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes are a few examples. Colour is also important. A "ticket-me-yellow" BMW M3 or an "arrest-me-red" Honda Prelude is surely going to attract a lot of tickets. Basically, don't get any car that gets attention and is associated with a "go fast" image will be good enough. A dull 4-door sedan is even better.

Hence the reason me, Dark Brew and abs016 cruise in silver.

Intense weekend

Looks like cops are going to be everywhere this weekend and they've started already so watch out guys!

I just drove approx 2km from yonge street, along queens quay east, onto lakeshore and to carlaw and in that time I passed 2 radar speed checks!

Just a word of warning.

Are you saying our silver color is dull and our cars dont have the "go fast" image?

PS - I know what you are trying to say... I just could not resist posting this.
Damn this temptation to do things - this is why i got a ticket in the first place!

PS: Silver is the BEST colour!

Thanks for the word of warning.

I had passed atleast 3 (if not 4 or more) speed checks on monday. I caught on one of them when I tried to pass a truck by going on the right lane and downhill.

Shieese!

3 demerit point are given for a ticket issued where the speed is 16km or more above the posted speed limit
at 6 points you get a nice little letter with a warning that they call your liscence into review at 9 points, basically 1 more tickets pertaining to the above criteria.

Also bear in mind demerit points stick with your for 2 years.......

However I have heard that if you mail the ticket with a cheque for a slightly larger amount then stated, they will cash the cheque and issues a refund check for the extra amount paid. Supposedly the ticket wont be submitted to the insurance man until you cash the cheque, thus closing the ticket

I've never tried it but worth a shot, no?

Went today to ask for a trial date. The pretty girl there told me the date would be for next year and I will notified of the date in a few months from now.

I got a ticket last March for speeding, although I was pulled over for not having a front plate. Got nailed for 113 in a 80, good thing for the great brakes on the RX-8 as I was actually doing 145 or so. Anyways, I have a pretty clean driving record and I decided to go to court so I set a trial date, it was for this past April. I decided I would represent myself, did all the research on license plates and reading the highway traffic act, I was ready. I went to court and you have to check in with the prosecuter to get marked off the list that you attended. Prosecuter reviewed my tickets, she asked if my plate was on my car now, I said yes so she dropped that charge. She then said that she will reduce my speeding ticket to 94 in an 80, no points and $40 if I plead guilty, I said ok. So in the end I said 2 words, actually 3 as I said "Guilty" when the Judge asked me and got a pretty good deal. Good idea to represent yourself unless you are always getting tickets and have a bad record. Also, don't play the "reschedule the court date" game, it doesn't work and you'll have less chance at getting a reduction.

Another bullshit PR campaign that doesn't amount to anything. The majority of traffic chaos in the GTA is caused by incompetent, distracted and a-shole drivers, not excessive speeding. Having a plane in the sky will accomplish exactly one thing, catching speeder. But that still leaves 95% of a-shole GTA drivers unpunished.

I hate ricers as much as the next guy, but majority of a-shole drivers are not ricers.

I was on Britannia Rd heading west. Was turning left onto Terry Fox. I'd say when they past the cop they were doing at least 130...

Hi all,

My court date was today. I went and the cop showed up. The public prosecutor asked me how I plead and I said guilty. The offence was reduced to 15km over with a $45 fine and no points! I said yes and it was over.

Conclusion:
If the offence is not too serious, fight it yourself. I saw a lot of representation by those traffic ticket fighting specialists and they did the same thing I did... nothing different.

There were cases of ppl with some serious offences, like driving with a suspended license, speeding 40km over and the likes. Some were represented and some were not. At the end, they all accepted the deal offered.

Cheers!

So I guess in the end the insurance company wins, since everyone pled guilty and got a speeding ticket on the record.

At least you didn't get stiff by X-Copper since they've went bankrupt between the time you got your ticket and now.
