Sightings Thread for Calgary

I'd like to start this thread only one problem...I haven't seen an RX8 on the road in over three weeks. In that time I've seen two Ferraris, 3 - 911's and one Lambo.

...a rare car indeed.

It's hibernation season!! Before I got the 8, I saw tons of them. when I drive the Corolla I look like a moron/pervert/weirdo waving at another 8. When I drive the 8, morons/perverts/weirdos wave at me!

Thats true, it is hibernation season. Mines in there right now waiting for a decent day to take it out. Blue is right, not as many people notice me in my green Dodge Colt!

Although I did see a Silver 8 turning into the Foothills Hospital parkade Monday morning. None since then. Maybe mine tommorow if the weather is good!

Well, I'll be driving mine up to Crowfoot tonight to wash it. It's easy to spot right now; it's the filthiest 8 in the city!

You're going to see one more titanium on the road now. Picked it up at Northhill Mazda 2 weeks ago. They brought it in from Edmonton for me. Got a great deal using the information shared in this forum. Thanks guys! Went out to Invemere the first weekend I had it. Had some fun with the twisties, but was gentle...gotta break it in properly of course. Looking forward to reading and posting more in the future, and maybe doing a run with the Calgary group in the spring.

Welcome to the cult......So glad that you bought Titanium rather than sunlight Silver...the Silver is cursed, for some reason they have been involved in most of the accidents.

When spring hits, we'll set-up another cruise...this time I want to see a **** load of cars there!

Sorry folks - mea culpa. I feel shame.

My wife was out in the 8, and I confess we'd spent some time down 762 and out by Bragg Creek. The 8 hasn't been cleaned for a while because it's meant to be driven...

Cheers

I was all set to confess that MY wife was out in our 8 this afternoon, and the car happens to be filthy right now also... but then BARK took the bullet for me! Thanks! :D (Uh, Rotten, what colour was the dirty 8 you saw? Both BARK and I have Ti Gray RX-8s)

My excuse - we're too busy packing these days. Possession date on our new 9 yr old house in Edgemont is Monday (Nov 15th), moving day is Sat 20th. We have to be completely out of our Silver Springs house by Dec 1.

Hey, BARK, I've been meaning to ask you - what's the best route downtown in the mornings from Edgemont? How about for the return trip? We're using Centre St. lately to get in and out of downtown...

Regards,
Gordon

I'm sad to say it was a Velocity Red like my own...both of you are off the hook.

Congrats on the move...I used to live in Edgemount..live in Rockyridge now. I figured that Edgemount was too inner city for me. :D

Used to live on 14th Ave and drove a British Racing Green '68 Triumph TR6, hell to keep it going in the winter, had to install the block heater aftermarket (bot it in Van and drove it to Cal), but she was cold. Worked in the NW. Summer was fun tho, driving along Elbow was best.

It's good to be off the hook...

Best route for us in to downtown is take JLB to 19th, down to Northmount, through Confederation Park, east on 16th, then down Centre Street.

Traffic is getting funkier these days, but if you leave by 7:15, you should be in by 8:00.

Stopping at the Tim's at the Esso on top of the hill is part of the trip/ETA.

Cheers

Was anyone parked at the Gold's Gym in Canyon Meadows Tuesday at about 11:45 AM or so? A friend saw a Titanium or Silver 8 there and thought it was me.

Velocity red in a parking lot across the road on 27th Ave. Thought I saw it yesterday so checked specifically today. I'm in town for a couple of days - sans mine - and I miss it

Vel Red on Sixth Avenue Friday at about 4:15 PM, turning left on to 3rd Street SW. I was waiting for my bus, so he wouldn't have recognized me as a 8 driver.

Later, at about 6:15, a Tit Grey or Silver (too dark to tell) on eastbound John Laurie, just west of Nose Hill Drive. No spoiler on the back, but that was all I could tell. I was driving then, but he didn't acknowledge me.
