Shannonville April 24
 

I have tentatively rented Shannonville on the Fabi track from 530-730pm April 24. I can have 12 people total, so if anyone wants to come out you have to let me know well in advance, as well as prepay. The amount is $60.00 per car. The track will open at 530 and close at 730, no run groups passing rules etc. You will have to sign 2 waivers, one for the track another to state your car is safe for track use and you release myself and Shannonville for any liability. Let me know or forever hold your peace!

Al, do you think this is a suitable track for my first track experience? Also, whats the word on helmets?

I'm afraid of having no passing rules. Other noobs should be too. *cough*jay*cough*

Wonder if I can make it in time, finish work at 3, with weekend traffic hmmm.....

This is an open test day for me and 11 close friends. If you dont want to wear a helmet thats up to you. Every time we have passing rules there is more trouble then when we dont. The race cars that are going are doing so to break in engines, they wont be going flat out. You will have a tough time finding more open track time for $70.00 than you will on that day. At this point there are 8 spots left.

Bah. My boss is on vaca for the next bit. If I can get my half day approved I'll be there.

Please dont take offense guys but I have heard the "Im In" many times before. If you want to come I would love to have you but you need to come up with the cash now. I dont want to get out there and be stuck with a $700.00 bill on my own because people changed their mind at the last minute. The people who pay the $70.00 are in. If we get 8 people who commit and have fun I will do this a few more times through out the summer and fall for a private RX8 day. 2 hours straight track time is plenty trust me lol

greg your over thinking this whole tracking thing. just go out and enjoy you'll be fine

Al what time u leavin for the track. I'm in and will give u the money IF I figure I can make it on time.

I'm not arguing your rules or anything, it would kinda suck tho getting stuck behind someone that is not driving as aggressive and or someone on my ass. Personally I hate it when someone is on my ass, I would rather them pass and I try to catch them, less stressful to in case of a bad downshift break whatever.

I would definitely be in for this, I might just come down now and pay you Al. Looking forward to trying out the new tires on a track, and really going thru the AFE.

Also looking forward the improvements new coils, plugs and plugs wires will add.

Uhh.. dude.. there are NO passing rules.. this is a mostly a break in session for race cars. Just follow the normal protocal for passing if a speed deamon is quickly catching up to your tail.. pull off the racing line and let em go by.

If you dont have to worry about passing rules you wont get stuck, if you catch someone go past them, if they are coming up on you they will go past you. Common sense is the rule of the day. The rule of thumb for being passed on the race track is the faster car pulls offline to pass. The slower stays online and carries on his merry way. With a maximum of 12 cars I really dont think it will be an issue.

AH ok Al...so there is passing, my bad read like there is no passing at all.

IMO I like the passing rule of only on the straight and signal, slow car takes foot off gas, while the other wot.

But ya only 12 ppl shouldn't be a prob., use to 20-30 :(

Do we need to be licensed? Helmets? Open to non-RX8s? Have a friend with a Skyline we may take the drive down for this.

edit: just realized that this was a friday and we can't make the drive down for that time :(

Me too...lucky I learn from the track and numerous crashes before...ABS + emergency lane change for the win!

I am going to charge $70.00 up front and then i will refund $10.00 once we get the 12th person. The track costs $325.00 per hour plus taxes.

After looking at the weather forecast for next week I am moving my day by one week to May 1! They are calling for rain and flurries on the Thursday and single digit temps on the Friday which is wayyyyy to cold to do what we have to do. Let me know if your still interested!

Both dates are still open and our weather is ever changing lol. I need an honest head count of who would rather go on which day. Please let me know as I have to book in the next day or 2!

i'd like to go but im already at dunnville on the 3rd, and the 10th we;re at mosport how much track time do i really need. i think my car would hate me if i track it 3 times in 10days lol

nate makes a good point here. I think three weekends in a row will be a little overkill on the car, and my wallet. So im making a choice. Im going out to the dunneville one with togue on the 3rd i think. Anyone else going to that one? i know marc and someone else had expressed interest in it. Im going to be prepaying for that one by the end of the week (its a better deal if you prepay, but you risk it raining and its not refundable...tough choice).

No worries Greg, its been like that for most of rx8club and rx7club...its just that not everyone has tons of time and money...and they need to make tough decisions.

I did express interest, but honestly for you Greg being even newer to this than I, you will have more fun, and feel safer going with 12 ppl around a track compared to 20-30 as Togue did to me last year. I almost punch someone out I was so pissed, demanding an instructor they wouldn't give me and threw me on the track, with no fukin clue and no way to back out, having a guy screaming at you GO GO GO!! I won't be going to that Togue. Maybe if Al has a little time and feels like being nice for once :-o jk he will be able to go around with you. U definitely want an instructor first time to the track!!!

I'm up for this Al either or, but May 1st would be my preference.

It is definately going to be May 1st. That day works out better for the race cars that want to go.

okay, marc you make a really good point. Now i dont know what to do. lol. I dont want to keep flip flopping and changing my mind. Maybe i should just hold out until the mazdas at mosport thing and see how i like that (im sure the pace will be more relaxed) then go out later in the season for some lapping days....unless Al or someone else will go around the track with me at this event but thats really not what he/they will be there for so i dont want to bother them...Damnit. i dont know what i want to do now and the clock is ticking!

Right now I have 4 confirmed race cars, all of which are doing the same thing I am doing, breaking in an engine or doing endurance testing.

Ya u do just come to this one :) Honestly with only 12 ppl, it will probably be one of the safest (knock on wood hehe) lapping days we can have. Jump in for a few laps with someone (me if you like) have a few rounds to get the feel and I will go around with a few laps with you. Once you get the idea and kinda feel of wtf is going on, night a day difference, then just start practicing at your own pace and you won't have ppl being dumbasses (togue) on your ass, since it's a small group. Up to you! When we hit Mosport you will be laughing.

So room for 8 8's? haha

Greg just want to make a correction it was Touge, it was CSCS that I had the issue with.
