What is the cost of a complete engine replacement for an out of warranty Rx8?

I understand that the warranty is 100,000km or ten years (whichever comes first?) I'm looking to buy an rx8 but most of the cheaper ones for sale are by private owners (kijiji craigslist etc) and I want to know a ballpark amount to budget in case the engine goes kaput.

I believe it is 160,000km and 8 years ..

Motor swap will depend on labour and what you want to spend on a motor.

Rebuilds start at 2500 or so and can go to 8-10K depending on what and who does them.

You can often buy a good used engine at a wreckers for 1500-2500
