RX8 Cooler Hose...anyone get this notice from Mazda??

Hi all...

I got this notice for all 04-08 RX8's in the male typo...correction... mail dated May 09, 2008.

Problem: RX8 vehicles oil cooler hoses may show premature amounts of corrosion due to the deposition of muddy water containing road salt, which may cause a perforation. Under severe condition this may result in an engine oil leak...

I'm making an appt. to have them fix this...anyone else done it yet?

I think that is a Canadian TSB (Recall?) that doesn't apply to the US (yet). SoCal may not get salt , but us in the northern US do.

I got the notice. I have my regular monthly appointment already booked for another airbag replacement so I'll get it looked at then.

As of writing, I just got shuttled back home, my appointment was 10am this morning. Apparently, they need 4 - 5 hours to do this!!! WTF!

They'll come pick me up around 2 - 3pm today. Work is being done in conjunction with my 16,000 / 8 month service interval.

I mean "the work" is being done with my 2nd scheduled maintenance. "The work" is the SSP76.

Interesting... I've received no such letters from Mazda... even though Agincourt Mazda has my address and everything.

Don't worry I just got mine like yesterday and it's dated May 09, 2008 so who knows...If you don't get one just bring it in and tell them about the recall notice...

I got my going in on Tuesday first thing. At first they said that they wanted to do it during just regular oil changes, but when they found out which SSP I was talking about I was told 4 hours as well. Guess I'm holding off on my mid-pipe and exhaust for another week so I don't run the chance of them bitching.

dropped the car off at 10am. It's 3pm now, they were supposed to have it ready now and pick me up, I got no call. so I called them and they said they are still working on it...

Wow, this TSB takes more than 5 hours to do! You will definitely need to book an entire day off of work to do this... half a day won't even suffice

you can use their shuttle service. I don't have to worry about finding a parking spot at the GO station when I bring my car in...

SSP 76 complete

The mud guards they were referring to is actually the inner fender wheel well lining plastic. Both L and R sides replaced. New oil pipes installed for the oil coolers. For this SSP, a front bumper removal was required.

yes I did use their shuttle service. I mentioned that already.

There are 4 items:
Left wheel fender inner plastic guard
Right wheel fender inner plastic guard
New oil pipe
Bulk 5W20 oil topped off for any that leaked during the install.
