Exclamation RX-8 Performance Pkg (MAZDASPEED)

Mazda is throwing in some goodies with RX-8's purchases at the moment.

- MAZDASPEED cold air intake
- MAZDASPEED 18" alloys and matching centrecaps (plus you'll get to keep your stock 18's, which is useful on a few levels)
- Front and rear rotary crests
- Raised rear spoiler

The graphs on the intakes are showing about a 5hp gain. Out of pocket, if you mate these freebies with the twin can exhaust you've got a pretty nice setup out of the box.

Price on the parts if you were to by separately is about $3500.

The worst part is if you ever run into a CEL problem, some a-shole dealership somewhere will probably refuse to work on your car until you put the VFAD/airbox back in.

question is will this "package" means no negotiation on the price of the car?

I just bought my car. I negotiated plenty before this incentive even came up. The way I see it, this package is from Mazda so it isn't costing the dealership anything. You can and should still negotiate like you always would.

Any Mazda or Mazdaspeed parts installed by the dealer will not compromise you warranty in any way shape or form.Fullstop!

All these parts will be installed by the dealer free of charge.

The dealer will give you a form to sign which states that you received the parts and they were installed free of charge.

On 2007 models you should end up with the same deal.On 2006 models will pay a bit more than you might have without the ext

All

Yes in theory you are correct, but there are some real bad dealerships out there that are hard to deal with when it comes to the RX8. This board is full of issues that they should cover for people but don't. Unfortunately it seems like to need to establish credibility with he dealer that you know what you are talking about before they will take you seriously. In many cases, its not the car that causes grief but the bad service from questionable dealers.

QTWRE is correct.
This performance package does not mean that negotiating on the price is not applicable.

You can still work out a great deal on your new 8 and still receive this incredible package free of charge!

I may not be from Canada, but I think I can add to this.
I had a dealer install my Mazdaspeed lightweight flywheel in June 05. When my engine was replaced in Aug 05 (two months later), my regular dealer didn't know what to do. They didn't recognize it as such. I called them to make sure they transfered the flywheel to the new engine. They told me they weren't sure that could be done. They thought the flywheels were matched to the engine. After discussion back and forth & a call to Mazda smoothed over the problem. I do still have my flywheel. But, they should have known since they are a Mazdaspeed dealer.

In the 2006 Mazdaspeed catalogue, some of the mazdaspeed parts do void the warranty even though they are mazdaspeed parts AND must be installed by approved mazdaspeed dealership. To me that is stupid, but that's what the catalogue said. They had a color code system to identify what each part will do with regards to the warranty. For example, wheels obviously won't do anything, but the intake and exhaust will have some impact, whereas something like a flywheel would void the whole thing on the whole car.

The only reason I posted these wheels is because they are very similar to what Mazda released to their dealers in the news bulletin.
They may or may not be these exact wheels, time will tell.

I live on the wet coast and heard about it on Jan 22, but still dont know the details
I'm thinking they are the new Enkei MS split 5 spoke wheels, as no color choice is being offered.

I doubt they are including the new Enkei design - they can still make money on those.

^^ There's the original MS rims that were a 5 spoke Rays (bronze color) that you mentioned.

Then the newer MS version 2 (not officially version 2 but you know...) that were displayed in the Tokyo autoshow --> these are the similar, if not the same, as Advan Model 5. I'll buy another 8, sell my soul, give away my first born child, etc if they actually give these away.

My guess is that it will be the MS6 rims but who knows?

I believe those are the ones made by Enkei. 18x8 +50 offset ..21 lbs I think
I saw pics of 3 or 4 different modded versions of 8"s from that show...and they
all had those wheels.
They also come in a 17x7 +55 offset for the MX-5

Meh, I still prefer the stock Rx-8 wheels. Those looks very err.... generic aftermarket designs.
