Road trip mileage, CEL, New Flash

My '8 got 10.5 l/100km (470 km/49.7l) on a road trip to Montreal.
We were cruising at 118 km/hr to Montreal after filling up near Kingston. The last 35km was city driving around Montreal the next day so the Hyw part was probably close to 10l/100 km.

My baby threw a CEL just before the trip but I figured it was because I didn't tighten the gas cap at the previous fill-up. It was running well so I continued with the trip.
I took the car in for the CEL and it turned out to be a loose gas cap (as suspected). Code P0456. As part of the repair they updated the ECU with N3Z2-18881-T

The ECU version is now "T"?
The last one I got was only R. I guess I missed "S" completely!

I actually just did a roadtrip myself to Pennsylvania. I averaged 11.5L/100km (400km on 44L) despite crusing at about 125km/h and having some transfer routes that included stop and go in small towns.

OMG BD(good economy)!!! on 50-55L of gas I only managed 385km average of 14.5L/100km(just got the car serviced like 1 week befor too) and was also on a road trip to montreal i was using cruise control at 125km/h all the way there .. I have no idea why i get such bad milage, this was just recent too I went to montreal for F1 weekend in the summer. on the way back i tryed something i will never do again cruise control at 100km/h all the way and got 9.8L/100km. a 4 1/2 hour trip turned into 6 almost i was gonna kill myself, but in the name of science i had to do it.

hey what do u guys think does 25km/h really mean u use 45% more gas? (all highway) not that i'm complaining i baught the car knowing economy was not one of its strong suits

Also on a side note i sevice my car religiously, and only premium gas. I will need a service in 253km right now. i also went put in some oil in car and i noticed that the oil smells alot like gas, alot!(blow-by, lots of it i guess, and if any1 wants to smell it i'll save you some) any of you guys notice that? Also i did breakin the car as stated by the dealer, racing beat, the forum, owners manual, and just about any1 else who said something about break in. when i bring in the car next week i will ask the dealer what flash i curently have. i know when the car flooded last sept the dealer said they put the latest update in it, soooo that's all i gotta say about that

Ouch!
I was running 118km/hr so I don't think that another 7km/hr should use that much more gas. What weather conditions did you have? I had 16 to 22 degrees and sunshine.
I wouldn't mind comparing your oil sample to mine. You should also get the dealer to comment on the smell and get the comments in writing... just in case.
I was running the 'heat shield' flash but changed to the T flash right after the trip.

hey DB during the summer we had that kindda hot spell, 25-30 degrees and it was sunny all the way, I also had the a/c goin, not that it was working(i mean it works but dosen't work) by the time i got to montreal it felt as if i was sitting on a we sponge for 3 hours. perfect weather, no traffic. i will ask the dealer next week and see what they say, and will get a small sample of oil befor i go for the service, to tell you the truth i dunno what flash i have, i will ask the dealer to put the car on the pc and see if they can tell me. Also in the city(town of aurora) which is all i do during the week i get around 330km/tank, i do step on it sometimes(harrd not to) but most of the time i shift befor 3k and usually in 5th/6th at 60km/h. i don't understand why there are such discrepancies between cars.

later guys

Gee Tlovr, I run around Stouffville in traffic all the time; I go to redline a lot (at least 4 times a day) and I still get over 400/50L of gas no problem. I never get flooding either, maybe it is because you car is a year or two older, closer to the start of the run.

I had A/C on both ways in my trip to Penn. and still averaged 11.5L/100km

Well guys Sophia is back from her service, i got a few small things looked at, a 32,000km service, and installed my new CF wing (not alined good on my brothers side) but anywho. regarding gas smell in the oil, i did take a sample befor i went in so Db if you wanna compair it to urs thats cool (i also went 6,000km inbetween oil change not 8k). when i did go in the service lady could not see what flash the car had that ajaxs mazda did, what she did say is that there is a new flash for your car and its for drivability, and she said that this flash will not dump as much gas in the engine(i have to assume she knows, cause i dont know what this flash dose)

On the work order line D: 4206F drivability recall.

do any of you know if 4206F is the name of the flash or just the recall campaign number?

when i was driving it back to work the car did seem a bit stronger, and just to make sure it was not wishful thinking my bro also drove it and i told him nothin about the flash, he even said it seens to pull a bit hard (i let him drive it too, so he know what the car is also like)
