With the current raft of "I want to buy a used RX-8" threads, I decided to visit the Cdn black book site which shows wholesale prices. First off, it's depressing to see how our 8 depreciates.
Secondly to my surprise, Shinka/SE models fare worse than GT considering their MSRP is higher.

I used an '06 model with 20,000km
GT: $23,245
Shinka/SE: $22,245

lol...thats funny, it's probly because of the color, it might be less popular...

 

just because mazda gave it a special name, doesn't make it more special... though it's weird that it's listed even less than a standard GT

 

I've a feeling that the colour combination of the Shinka is to the general conventional public's taste. Whereas the all black leather interior with the GT is more palatable. I see this same trend with "funny coloured" 911s or M3s that don't fare well against its more conventionally configured siblings despite its uniqueness and premium price.
