Recall Campaign #3405g
Just a heads up for club members, we received a recall noticel #3405G. I will give you the exact wording from MCI. This was sent to us this AM.
This recall is for the 2004 Mazda RX-8
Please be advised that the subject recall campaign will be released in Canada and the United States in AUGUST.
Due to improper forging of the front lower arm at the supplier, cracks may occur in the ball-joint sockets. In certain driving conditions such as racing, the ball stud may seperate from the ball joint socket and a loss of steering may occur.
In Canada there are 1421 vehicles affected by this campaign.
All materials and parts required to launch this campaign are being prepared.
Should your dealer receive a customer inquiry, please advise your customer that if their vehicle is affected by this recall campaign, they will receive a recall notice advising them to return to their Mazda Dealer when parts and materials become available.
I have posted this for you so you dont have to contact a dealer, and when the recall parts are available I will notify the club on this forum!

Thanks for posting (and for posting in the other recall thread as well). That's extremely helpful.
I have and will continue to bring my 8 into your dealership for service.

Thanks for the update. 1421 vehicles are affected ... I wonder how many RX8's there are here in Canada.
Was there any update on the heat shields? I think most of us are more concerned about the lower control arm, anyways.

Well, the original allocations for Canada was suposed to be around 700 cars per year.
So, since all of the cars sold in 2003 were 2004 models along with most the cars sold in 2004, I would say that 1421 cars is just about the total 2004-model year RX8 production in Canada.
