Re: Dealer... Now I'm pissed!

In Mar. 2004 I bought an 8 for my wife- 10th anniv gift. I ordered all the stick on crap- spoiler, aero kit etc. Even the stainless exhaust inserts. The dealer phoned the day it was ready so I went over to check it out. The guys were still putting the bits on when I got there. I walked in to the shop and the first thing I noticed was a small 3/8" paint defect on it's nose. Touch-up paint. I asked what happened and they told me something fell against it and scratched the bumper. They said they didn't think it would be as noticeable as it was and would order a new bumper for it if I wanted. I said it was alright, hopefully the first scratch every new car gets. I let it go.
After a few weeks go by, I get to drive it, ( friend drove it home to his place that night to hide it) and I notice a vibration from the rear end. I think I posted about it at the time. After much B.S. the dealer agrees that it needs 2 rear tires. My wife books it in, they swap tires and she leaves. I get home from work and walk past the car. I ask my wife if she ran over a curb. She says no. On closer examination, we find touch-up paint on some edges of both rims. The next day, the dealer says they had a problem getting the tires off the bead, and their machine scratched the rims. They explained that the rims will likely show corrosion within a year and will send them out to be re-coated at a time convenient to us. I'm not happy but agree.
Yesterday, I had my wife drop the car to the dealer to get 2 new tires put on. They swap tires and they tell her it's good to go. This time she takes a good look at them and I get the phone call at work. They released the car to her without telling her they really F... up both rims. You could see the damage from 50ft. Right down to the black pre-coat.
Now my point. I don't care that they screwed the rims or the bumper or these last 2 rims. What I do care about is them not telling my wife or me that it happened. Who knows, with the weather we've been having, maybe she doesn't wash the car for a couple of weeks and then notices the damage. What are the odds they come good for it? Not good, I would think.
My question is... how do I approach this. Walk in like a ballistic missile or what?
My feeling is that if the tech who mounted the tires didn't tell the service advisor that the rims got damaged he should be fired. If he did tell the service advisor and the advisor didn't tell my wife, then he should be fired.

Thanks for the input, and sorry for dragging the story out.

Rick

Ballistic missile is the way!!! They made many mistakes on ur car, seems like the techs at the dealership cant do anything right. Dont leave until you settle it. If they refuse to cover the damage I suggest calling Mazda Canada. You could also tell them that, if they cant resolve this you'll let corporate solve it.

Ballistic missiles ago! I'd never let anyone lie to my wife (don't have one, but if i did) and especially not lie to me. Do what you gotta do til you get your way, i mean...it is a birthday present for you wife, it should be how YOU wanted it for her, not how they want it. You should of told them to order that bumper to begin with, they shouldn't of charged.

You're right. I should have made them replace the bumper right from the start. They did say they're gonna re-coat the wheels but it still makes me mad! I forgot to mention they charged her $40.00 the flip those tires.

Exclamation

Make that a stealthy ballistic missle..
But I agree with Ren8. Take it to the top if they argue with you. Sue the dealership for negligence if need be. But dont let it slide. Post the name of the dealership so that others can avoid them like the plague...

We Have All Had Stupid **** Happen To Our Cars At The Dealership Before. My Question To You Is After The Secone Insodent, Why In God's Name Would You Go Back To That Dealership? My Home Dealership Are Complete Morons And It Took Them 5 Time Do Do A Proper Wheel Alignment Before They Got It Wrigh And Even Then... They Damaged My Streeing Wheel. After That I Switched Service Centres.

Anyways, Id Go For The Ballistic Missle Approach. But Do It In The Morning On A Week Day When The Service Area Is Busy / Full Of Customers. They Seem To Give You What You Want To Quite You Down When There Are Other Customers Around.

I'm usually not very gentle with dealerships, that one included. I have had yelling matches with them before and that advisor no longer works there. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they have always treated my wife very well (she used to bring in Timmies for the guys) and never ripped her off. They have had a huge turnover of employees lately so I may need to be a dick again.
And again, I really don't want anything from them since they agreed to repair the wheels. I'm just pissed that whoever was involved in this that knew about the damage still works there.
After I go ballistic, I'll post the name of the dealer. I need to hear their side first hand.

There is no their side, they damaged your car and never told you about it, and it wasn't something like just rubbed up against it and has a hairline scratch that they might not have noticed, they damaged it big time for people who are supposed to watch out how they work on your car. I took the lunatic approach many times at ERIN MILLS MAZDA in Mississauga in 2004, and like Helas stated, was when the place was packed with people, and I can tell you alot of people left. I would not let them repair anything, they damaged, they will replace it, it was new when it came in, I would want it that way out, not some touch up spot on the the car or rims that were refinished, for all i know, they might do the same thing they did with the touch up paint and look like ****.

Hope everything works out for you, makes it tuff when u buy a gift for your wife for putting up with you for 10 years and you guys are put through this kind of crap.
