Quick midpipe review
I bought a RP resonated midpipe and installed it a couple days ago. I have to say, I'm thinking that maybe it wasn't the best idea.
I already thought my car was pretty loud with the Greddy exhaust but now it's really loud. It does sound really cool when I'm winding it out but when just lightly accelerating from a light it's certainly much louder than a stock car is capable of, and seems to scream "I think I'm a race car!". I believe part of the problem is that the resonator on this pipe is tiny. Much smaller than what comes stock (which also has a cat to help).
I'm going to see if I get used to it, but as a first impression, I was not expecting this.
Loudness scale
Stock: 1
Greddy exhaust: 3.5
Greddy & MS CAI: 5
Greddy & MS CAI & midpipe: 9
The volume is comparable to any car you may see with a 3" flow-through exhaust can hanging out the back. Maybe louder. Some people love that, I personally will need to find a way to quiet it down. *cough* turbo *cough*

turbo can only do so much. With a borla + catless midpipe NA, it was far too loud. With a turbo it was acceptable. However hks hi-power + catless + turbo was far too loud. On the other hand, hks legamax + catless midpipe NA is acceptable.
The real problem with NA with aftermarket exhaust + catless is that light throttle sounds like you're going WOT. And then you're moving slowly. So people think you're a joke.

Totally expected that bro, its a midpipe with no cat, even it it is resonated. Why dont u add a second resonater to it. Or sell and get the Mazsport double resonated one. What were total expenses on this?
So true, whats the dyno butt saying? You feel more pul with the straight pipe? Turbo eh? How do you plan on tuning it here in Cnada, or are you driving down to the states to get it done? We had this exact discussion two nights ago at the 3 meet, me footman and neo. Seems like the lack of a proper tuner meets death to any guys trying to go turbo in the GTA. Apparently Mazdees can't do it, and neither can RPM. Correct me if I'm wrong.
then i was thinking maybe Mazdamanic and Charles could, if they start setting up remote tuning with teh CObb.

you could sell it and get the mazsport midpipe

lol, ya... only slightly louder.
Mysql actually sums it up nicely...
Jay, you make it sound like Canada is full of retards. If I were to go turbo I'd see what MM can do with the tune. I'm not in a hurry so I'm looking forward to see what the BHR/MM offering is. If I had to I'd go with Innovate Motorsports in Buffalo for tuning. Also, you're a post *****.
Mr. Bangle, I hadn't considered using it only for the track but that's not a bad idea. My butt dyno isn't at all accurate to tell what gains I'm getting but I don't really need it for the street. I suppose if I keep switching them, the bolts won't seize and it won't take so long.

True, well someone has to pick up the slack when DarkBrew is away, naturally it should be another Sunlight Silver driver, lol. After I read your post I saw that thread in the vendors section of the turbo thats beng sold for under 5 gs with a tune and install, sadly I dont like in the states, or I would actually consider it. I'm just repeating the jist of what we discussed at the 3 meet. I thought there wouuld be people in GTA, or around the GTA that could tune it, if so, awesome. Thats the only thing holding me back at the moment, that and the powertrain warranty.
On a side note, are you still gonna be coming out on the 19th to RPM meet, or are you gonan go track your car?

theres a brand new greddy kit for sale on rotary4life.com for $2,000. Get that, the AP for $700, and the mazdamaniac turbo for $1800 and you're under 5k if you can install it yourself. add 800-1200 for a shop to install. then you can sell the greddy turbo (brand new) for 500-800 online to recoup some of the cost.
if you do the ignition upgrade, you're set to be able to push 320-350 whp.

When you talked about the loudness in your car... this is the only youtube video that comes to mind:

As bubb rhubb would say "instead of woh woh... you want it to sound like WHOOOOOO WHOOOOOOO" AHAHAHAH
and Lil' sis: "fo' deca'lashun only....."

Prospectjtaz is right. I have the RB intake, RB cat-back and RP supercat. But the cat has blown out so it is just a straight pipe. I like the sound actually when it is warm. But when it is started up cold the pipe is really raspy and poppy. Once it is warm the pipe has a deeper gargling sound, that isn't so annoying.
