hi everybody. if a question about 05 rx-8 that came from the US.
i was just wondering if all 8s come with the 6cd changer. The manual says that the load button has to be pressed for 2 seconds until a beep is heard to load cds in. but when i do this, nothing happens
do i not have the changer?
also i see that there is a kenwood mp3 deck loosely connected to a wire that seems to becoming from the center console. whats it for? it doesn't even turn on..
its so weird...
im guessing its for aux in?

 

it will say cd, 6 or mp3 on the dash (along those lines).
Not sure about the other thing, take a pic of the deck and the other thing and post for sure.

 

As I recall, the 6 CD changer was standard in Canada, but optional in the US.

 

My 8 got 6 CD changer..... Canadian Car~

 

OP: if you have a CD slot there's a good chance you have a CD player.

The Kenwood MP3 is an aftermarket. Most likely it's now utilizing the head unit port that is normally the CD's, and therefore non-CD functionality. The wire may indeed be an aftermarket Aux connector to the radio/MP3.

From my '05 manual:

 

If there is a LOAD button, it has the changer.
Maybe be a dumb question, but it's not full of CD's right now is it?
Don't hold the load for the 2 seconds, just press it and try to pop one in (assuming it's empty).

 

it should tell you that you have the 6 disc.. when you hit load, does it show up with 1,2,3,4,5,6 in boxes?

 

nvm the question. i didnt end up getting the car. turns out it was a dud...
apparently it got into a big accident in the states...which is something the dealer didn't tell me
