No BEEP at redline

Hey...I am not getting the beep or red light when I hit the redline. Should I be concerned, happy or what? I Reved it up to about 9500rpm just to see if it would come on and nothing. You do seem to lose power around there.

Would it just be a fuse or something like that?

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated!

Thx!

There's no shift light on the Rx-8, just a constant high pitched tone. If you are not hearing it, then perhaps the buzzer speaker is dead.

There's no light?? What!! Damn man I swear there was/is on mine, right at 8500 or 9000 a little red light would come on and the beep/high pitched tone. Maybe I'm hallucinating or something, but I swear a light came on.

None the less, no beeping sound. Thx!!

I hear the beep still! I thought I saw a light too, hmmm, now I'm going to have to go redline it tonight after work.

Mine's an 04 as well, maybe that model/year has it?

Ya hoser if you could and let me know that would be awesome!! Thx!

Just another excuse to redline it

It's not a huge thing, more curious than anything cause it doesn't affect performance at all. I don't mind having it for the track tho, so I don't have to worry about where my revs are at.

There is no shift light. The 350z has a blinking shift light.

Maybe the flashing light I saw was my digital speedometer changing numbers so fast as I gained speed!

There is no shift light period... 3rd time!

You've already tested it. If the shift tone does not come on at 8500rpm, then something is wrong.

To fix it, you will have to take the dashboard apart.

Cool

Here is the back of your speedo.

That is your buzzer - have fun.

Maybe hook up a shift light, but go blue so you don't get so confused.....

EEE...LOL thx!! Don't really think ripping apart the dash is worth it! I was just wondering if there was a quick/stupid kinda fix.

LOL...not confused, it must have been added by previous owner. My bad, thought that's the way they came (apologize Footman!) Don't want the light it's kinda gay, was again more curious than anything.

Thanks for your input!!

I'm now lightless and Buzz free....

do it proper... don't listen for the buzzer.. just listen to the pitch of the engine... you should be able to do it by instinct :D

But that light's always on...

Actually... I stand corrected... the light isn't always on... but the more I redline, the more the light likes to come on...

I had a nightmare last night that I had no beep at redline. I didn't know to shift! I woke up all worried but then I remembered it was just a dream.

Nope, I'm sure you didn't. The tach is actually about 200rpms off when you're that high in the RPM range. Fuel cut for the RX8 is set from the factory IIRC around 9200 to 9300 rpms. It could be a bit less but I can't remember.
