Cool New to the rx-8....and mazda

Hi everyone! i'm zoomboomgr8 (mostly because zoomzoom8 was already taken-_-) and i'm new to mazda and the rx-8. i'm picking up a 2005 velocity red rx-8 gt i believe (it has the leather seats) this week from the dealership i bought it from. I live in the mississauga area in ontario and i wanted to know if theyre are any 8 meetings i can go to in the GTA.
i come from a line of subaru clubs who have weekly meets and i wanted to know if its the same here!

for starters, i think the first thing i read on this forum was somebody's laminated note to their technician about flooding the engine. It's an awesome thing to know so thanks for posting that up

im looking forward to the community here and learning about the little red devil that i bought.

anyways getting late, peace!

First of all, WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!! the 8 is a great car that you're going to love to drive around, especially on the track!

we don't exactly have WEEKLY meets, but we do meet up every now and then, usually at 16th and Woodbine in Markham, but if you're in the 'sauga area, there should be some local meets out on that side.

that would be footman haha, our local engineer who has a tendency to be overly obsessed with details, though that might not be such a bad thing.

and remember, a redline a day keeps the mechanics away! so make sure you rev it up at least once a day.

There is RotaryMike who changed his name to BoxerMike here. He is a former RX-8 driver, and now owns a Subaru, so he did the opposite of you. The two of you should be best at exchanging info!

1) Get your Technical Service Bulletin's (TSB) done.
2) Check oil often. Depending on your driving style, it could mean weekly or monthly or somewhere in between. Oil consumption is dependent on rpm's.
3) Clean your car often inside and out. Do not neglect and disrespect your car by driving around looking all filthy...

so just an update...... the car that i had originally planned to buy didn't work out. The dealer chose to give me the car proof after they got all the paper work done. But i demanded it and ended up reading that it was american (neither GS or GT but a hybrid of both), and was involved in an accident in california in 2007. it was then sold to canada as a rebuilt title. And apparently the odometer has been changed a couple of times. First to 110k km and then it changed to 91k km all of a sudden...
seriously don't go to the guys if you ever find a car for a "good" deal in vaughan.

anyways as fate would have it, i ended up finding an 05 VR GT with 70k km, car proofed and everything....and the price? i pretty much stole it if you ask me...
