New Home new Garage...Heating it

As some of you may know I'm now in semi-retirement in Orangeville and it's been #@%&ing cold.
The Canadian forum has been so dead! well
Well I finally did it put a garage furnace in, a new Natural Gas Reznor Garage Heater 60,000 BTU large enough for most 2-3 car garages. If your in the Greater GTA and in the market and the prices are out of reach, I was quoted upwards to $4000. A friend of mine did it for 1300 tax in unit & install. I had to do some clean-up and build the support rails under the unit but thats just me.
Tuesday-Wednesday was cold (-21 to -28) set it to 60° F cycled off/on every half hour for 10 minutes same as the furnace in your home, worked all day in garage nice & toasty. Should have done this in my last house, I used 2 electric heaters and my hydro bill would double if I was out there every other weekend.

I hope this post does not upset the forum police!
Part 2 Spring 2014
Benches and Tire Racks
Part 3 Fall 2014
4 Post Lift with built in jack.

That's a cool story bro but unless you're inviting us over for some spiked hot chocolate I don't care about your garage.

Did someome say house warming party? My invitation must have gotten lost in the mail! I'd kill just to have your garage with NO heat! I am about to buy my first 8, and have yet to build a garage for it, so depending on what I will have to pay for a nice 2006-2008, I may be forced to leave the garage construction for another year. Hate the thought of having to leave my car outside for a year or so.

Very cool! I looked into this last summer but since none of the walls (or ceiling) in my garage are insulated, I couldn't help but feel like I should do that first so the heater isn't running more than it needs to.

When it comes time to go with a hoist, I'm using one of the ones from direct lift with a built in jack. They're local and always have pretty insane show specials if you find one of their booths at various car shows over the winter. I'm happy with the hoist and have no complaints. Its not as fast as ones we use at the dealership but its respectable for home use.

Love it! A forum build about a heated garage in Ontario is extremely appropriate. I've never been so cold as lying under my car in my unheated garage during a winter project that I just had to finish. Good post and I'll look forward to some project pics showing work in action soon!

Cool! I'm also looking for a 4 post lift with a jack. We should consider a group buy!

Sorry for the delay been in Mexico last week. Paint not a high priority at this point, shelves, catwalk and bench first plus more insulation. I know it the cart before the horse method but paint is more a summertime thing with all the sanding and prep! I was thinking shocking pink.

Congrats on the move Rick and the garage looks great, though I'm not sure pink would be my choice.

What you don't like pink, I was sure it would be a crowd pleaser, probably grey or off white? Glen coming over this weekend to start catwalk & maybe the tire racks. We're going watch the Rolex at Daytona for maybe the last time in Canada. On another note!

Rogers has decided to removed Speed from it's line-up. If your a Rogers subscriber well let your voice be heard and bitch about it. No more Rolex and Grand Am Racing on Canadian TV expect what the big networks bring us! Don't know if Bell also is getting rid of it as well.

I found this by accident while looking for Rolex Daytona TV schedule. This plane sucks!!!!!!!!!!!
Rogers Statement
"Speed Channel
As of March 1, 2014, Speed Channel will no longer be available on Rogers. We apologize for the inconvenience and recognize that fans will be disappointed with the decision, but we hope you will continue to value the dozens of channels that are included in your package.

If you have any questions please call 1 866 516-3826."

Yes, Rogers you suck as a cable provider
