Guy, you can't compare Canadian prices to US prices... everything here in Canada is jacked up...

Racing Brake and DBA4000's locally are like $750 for all 4, discs only!!!

You should check out rockauto.com for the Centrics that i mentioned. They ship to Canada, and the exchange rate is almost 1 to 1 right now. Even if they charge you $100 in shipping, it's still cheaper.

No need to compare US prices to Canada prices. Maybe i'm missing something and you guys want to spend more money.

FWIW Rosenthal has a full set of OEM rotors for $380+ Shipping, so the prices on those are pretty much the same.

Again... $377 for 4 OEM rotors (full set) all-in local price in Toronto is pretty good already.

I'd still look for a semi-local place that sells Centric stuff. IMHO they are a better rotor and a better buy, even at the same price point.

If you want the OEM, go for it. I was just trying to help you guys out on what you were spending. Feel free to but what you like. Ain't gonna hurt me or my wallet.

I'm in the market for new pads and rotors too. A little late since my car doesn't actually stop in emergencies. I was quoted like 700$ for a set of DBA Fronts only! I just checked the Tirerack and their DBA's are gone.

Anyways I'm thinking I might go with the EBC rotors with Hawk HP Plus. Any suggestions or reasons not to?

I did all the ******* homework for all y'all lazy bastards in Toronto recently....

Pricing is for all 4 rotors, all-in price.

STOCK OEM Rotors: $378
Racing Brake (open slot, curved vanes): $650
DBA 4000: $750

A little lighter, better surface finish, black lifelong finish on the hats, and most likely a better material blend. Ask some of the autox guys what they prefer. Not to mention that they're almost half the price. Granted shipping from rockauto kills it, but they aren't the only place to get them.

Powerslot and StopTech start out with centric blanks (actually they are owned by Centric) before doing their slotting and/or drilling. I believe RotorPros uses them as well.

Like I said, I'm just trying to help you guys save a few bucks. I'm done with it. I don't give a **** what you waste your money on. I'm suddenly remembering why i stick to the lounge more often than not.

Same for me too, I just went to Scarboro Mazda for an oil change, and they said my front rotors and pads are due..... (only 2mm left on the front pads, the rear pads are fine), and they quote me $847 for just the FRONT rotors and pads, not including the rear rotor and pads.... I am at 34,5xxkm on my 2007 RX-8.

I dont know why theres so much hate going around... I think the OP just wanted some help picking rotors and pads and some others chimed in with their knowledge. I've been asking everywhere locally for prices and many different people on their experiences over here in Toronto but everyone seems to have their own oppinion. Ive asked from the civic guys, to the lancer guys, all the way to the fanboys and everyone is different. Lets just gather our information as a community and get us the most informed decision.

^ lol man everyone here needs some Paxil :P

I thought about getting HP+ like you darklight - but I've read and seen a lot of vids of the horrific squeaking it makes during a daily drive ! I bought HPS's from NextMod for $145 (pretty good price at least based on the quotes I was getting from around town).

I'm still undecided on the rotors - footman did a lot of the research for us by calling around different retailers and the impression I'm getting is its still fairly pricey than what others here are implying they have gotten it for. I'll see if my local guy can find anything on centric rotors - though I've never heard of them until today ; time to do some readin and askin around !

I got my rotors from R1concepts and I was happy, overall. They were inexpensive. I have the carbotech bobcat 1521 pads and like them more than the hp+, less squeaky.

Here is my receipt for centric rotors from rock auto. I shipped to Detroit so no customs or extra shipping fees. They are just as good for street use as the oem stuff (fine for the track as well).

CAD is pretty strong right now.

Part Number Part Type Price EA Core EA Quantity Total
2005 MAZDA RX-8 1.3L 1308cc R2 FI
CENTRIC 12045072 (120.45072) Rotor CAD$ 36.71 CAD$ 0.00 2 CAD$ 73.42
CENTRIC 12045071 (120.45071) Rotor CAD$ 53.22 CAD$ 0.00 2 CAD$ 106.44
Shipping Ground (FedEx or UPS) CAD$ 24.05
Order Total CAD$ 203.91
