Exclamation N flash?

Been reading in the general forum about an Nflash. Couldn't see any canadians stating they have it yet. Called the dealership and as always they have no clue what i'm talking about. Anyone check with their dealers about this? Ppl are saying they notice an increase in power..

Ya, we'll get it in 6 months after the states, if we are lucky. That could be a good thing in case it doesn't work well.

They re-flashed my car today when I took it in for an oil change. The invoice doesn't say N flash it says ssp61....not sure if that's the same thing.

...but the car does feel smoother. I notivced that I'm not getting that bog at 6500rpm like I used to.

They also replaced my front brake pads and turned rotors because I was getting brake noise.

all-in-all a good service experience.

Rotten, once you've had a chance to really puit the car through the gears, give us a summary of the differences if possible. Did you ever have problems starting? This is supposed to address that. Also someone said that they noticed more power from 4-6.5K RPM. It would be great if that were true.

My experience is that you keep that key turned untiol it catches. The last few days it seems like I am having a few close calls like its not going to catch and then it catches after like 6 -8 seconds of turning the key.

I had two instances this winter where it was touch-and-go for starting....but the car had been sitting all day in -30c weather.

However lately I noticed that I had to put the accelerator to the floor in order to start the car. It seems better now. So far I’ve just noticed that the flat spot is gone at around 6000 - 65000 rpm. I'm heading out to hockey shortly so I'll test it on the way.

Soo, i got the nflash done on saturday.. Didn't get to take it for a real test, but I think it did improve the low band acceleration. It's probaly in my head, but i'll test it out tonight on the way home from toronto..

Mr Jynx, keep us posted on your observations on how the N Flash worked.

I have done some AFR readings on N flash and compared them to my previous run on M flash, there does not appear to be much difference in AFR's if any.

Ok, so i did some fooling around last night.. A friend of mine I hang out with who has been in my car quite a few times was with me last night. I didn't tell him the car was flashed and there "might" be a slight increase in acceleration. I opened it up and he did notice it had a harder pull, and also it seems to be louder?

So i'm not sure if it did anything, he has an s2000 and we've tested WOT with both cars and we were neck and neck to 100km/h, when it gets nicer we'll do that again.. not very scientific tho :/

I had my car in for service two weeks ago for a CEL - the service advisor said they did a re-flash as required (I'm not sure which version). I haven't had any cold start or flooding problems.....after three full tanks of gas I'd have to say performance is about the same, but gas mileage has decreased slightly - although it could just be the cold weather and my right foot

Working 60-70 hrs/wk for the last month or so...

Yup, the SSP61 includes the N flash. I haven't had it done yet - I had my car in for service in late January, and they still had a bug or two with that WDS version at that time.

Regards,
Gordon

Who ever has it done can you comment on the power when doing an 8k-9k shift through gears 2-4. With my "M" flash I get a power hesitation for a split second after the shift.
I want to know if they have eliminated that.

Don't take your foot off the gas so much. Just ease off about 1/2 way and then floor it again. Kinda like a semi-powershift.

I can feel the car interfering.. It bothers me.. Plus I'm not going to eat clutch because the car doesn't like to do what I ask!
But I understand what you are talking about. Just hoping the flash corrects this, otherwise I"m not bringing her to the dealer.

I never had that problem with the M-flash(hesitation).. I'll test it out again tonight doing a shift from 2->3 at 9k.. Can't help you for 4th gear tho that's approx. 190km/h right?
