At least this dealership has wireless internet ..lol

They said I should be back on the road for 4:30

The check engine light was throwing a code for the #2 wire?

So they are replacing all my wires again. (just changed yesterday)

And do an engine clean to clean out any carbon I might have inside.

They said it "should" get me home then I need to get my motor checked to see if they need to replace it.

Did they give you a rental car for 22 days in the shop for yours?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I would definitely ask for my money back from the original dealer since they didn't fix your problem. $1200 is an outrageous amount. Coils are $30 eachx4 and it should take them 1 to 2 hours max to install. Should have been no more than $350-$400 to install new coils.

Also it could still be the cat. Tell them to physically unbolt the cat. and look inside. It can be bad and still not have a CEL going off. The cat. should be covered under warranty if it needs to be replaced since it has a longer warranty.

If you need to price compare any parts, check warranty periods, or recalls/TSBs check out this Mazda Dealer website: http://www.finishlineperformance.com/store/home.php

They have a ton of info. on parts and TSBs for the RX8.

Let us know what they say next.

Sorry I should have been more clear on what else I had done.

I also got new spark plugs and new wires I think that was 200 and change

Then I got a throttle body and erg vales cleaning and new air filter. It was time to do it so I just did it

And I did an engine cleaning service. I think called de-cardonation that needed to be done thats what made it all add up.
Your correct about the coils total service for them was 412.XX with taxes

Today what happen was the code going off was wire 2 miss-fire

The looks like no fault from the other dealer was actaully just a bad wire from the factory. The dealer today replaced all the wires (for free of course). Then they took it for a 22 miles test drive.

The tec said it still feels like its missing some power but I should beable to get home and get my dealer to preform the TSB for the cat and motor compressions etc. I didn't want them to do it cause I just want to get home.lol Hotels are getting expensive. He printed all the papers and said to give it to the service guys at my dealer at my house.

But I just drove 8 hours right after on the HWY and had no problems. I am 8 hours from home. Hopefully I make it!!!

Thanks for the comment

Glad to hear it's running better for you. Definitely have the cat. PHYSICALLY inspected to see if it's melted when you get home.

Drive safe...
