MS Wing ... got it

Got the Mazdaspeed wing installed today!

It was a professional development day today (ie. school's out) and at lunch I decided to swing by mazda to see a friend and check on the wing order. Turns out it just came in so right after the rest of my meetings, I headed back there and got it installed and ... looks great.

One problem though, when we took off the stock spoiler there was a scratch where the old spoiler meet the trunk at the front. It was on both sides to some extent but larger on the one side (the right). The MS wing, while it does cover holes from the stock spoiler and part of the trunk doesn't cover these scratches further up the trunk.

We washed the car and applied a little touch up paint and clearcoat. To be honest, the scratches don't really bother me that much, they're pretty much concealed by the touch up. I wouldn't mind a few tips on how to care for this area but I am somewhat resigned to the fact that this car will get some battle wounds and still look cool.

Anyhow, just wanted to point out to anyone changing from the stock spoiler to the Mazdaspeed wing, there could be some scratches revealed ... or there was for me.

And finally ... I received my clear corners in the mail. I am going to install those myself sometime tomorrow so I'm eventually going to finally post my car.

Turbo,

That's it for now (just installed clear corners). Yeah, I'm pretty strapped now for cash. Just wanted to get all the things I really wanted done right away to fully enjoy this car. If you can suggest anything else, I'll consider it. I really wish I had the MS body kit, especially the sides. The car looks kind of empty without those although I guess the mazda body parts (semi-kit?) look ok for now.

Phils,

Thanks man. I know it's all happened so fast! My ex-g/f (we're still good friends) thinks I'm nuts for spending so much money for mods that are mostly for appearance. She's not at all into cars, doesn't even drive and she's 30 yrs old ... she's really into the environment. But I'm really happy about it all.

Rockstar,

Thanks a lot dude.

Dehli,

I was wondering about the extra weight from the greddy. But it looks and sounds good so I don't mind and I'm not racing. Thanks man.

Thanks early30, spd frk, and Jedi.

I am liking the wing a lot. When I first drove with it on, I thought "whoa, it does kinda block the rear view" but I've gotten used to it and can adjust the tilt.

BTW, just got the new SPYN wheels on. Fools shipped it from Montreal missing a few nuts (silver) and one centre cap. Put the black nuts from the mazdaspeed wheels on instead and I might even like that better. But it is a p!ss off to drive around missing that cap. I'll post pics in my thread on "Trying SPYN Wheels" (don't know the link).

In the meantime, this is the best shot I have of my car BEFORE new wheels (and it's not very good huh). Just received my rx8club sticker so that'll go on, too.
