What I'm trying to say is, pretend the Teins can be set once then never again. Once you install them, you have the luxury of picking the exact height you want, front and back. Even if you never touch them again, you got to set your height just the way you like it, unlike the MS combo which sets it the way MS likes it.

So what you're saying is, even though Tein Basics coilovers are height adjustable, they are not meant to be adjusted twice a year?

Guys, everytime you change your ride height you also change your alignment. If you go up 2 turns on a coil over its about 1/4 to 1/2 a degree of camber change. Thats why we dont recommend a coil over set up for the street. There are so many variable that must be considered when making a dramatic change to a vehicles suspension design. When we moved the race cars ride height up and ich it was over 1 degree of camber, 1/2 degree of caster and a major toe change.

ps For my money I'd just put and eibach pro kit and leave the shocks and sway bars alone for street use.

Alan, I see that Eibach prokit sitting at the parts counter at the back for awhile!

How about the full MS shocks/springs/sways combo eh?

Those are empty boxes from the kits that we have sold! Either will work, I just dont think you need to spend the money on the shocks and sway bars for mainly street use and maybe 1 track day a year. Personally I prefer the Eibachs, but can get you whichever you wish.

You hurt my brain. That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying if you only ever did set it once you'd be one up on the preset drop on the MS combo because you set it the way you like it.

I can't believe I'm having this much trouble getting this idea across.

#84, you're absolutely right about alignment. I'm not even talking about that far down the road yet.

I like the MS shock/spring combo...why? It was engineered to work right.

Here are my problems with cheaper coilovers:
They tend to be over or underdamped giving REALLY bad ride quality, and thus having an inability to keep tires on the ground on less than ideal surfaces reducing the handling performance of the car (regardless of how much more firm/race car like it feels)

Here's a big issue I have with coilovers:
it's much too easy to make things worse, than better, esp if you are like me, and do not have access to fancy tools to make sure alignment is right, things to measure camber, and a track you can play on with dampening and ride height variables to insure you get maximum performance.

For suspension I like simple things that are designed to work well, then leave them.

this of course is just IMO.

I guess in my opinion a true coil over set up has no business being on a daily driven car. We have 8 different spring combo's we use for our coil overs. My street stuff runs on Eibach Pro-kits, which are designed for years and years of 4 season driving, and to sharpen up the handling without the additional drama and harshness of a race set up.

Just read over here that Eibach changed the drop from 1.2" front/rear to 1.2" front and 0.8" rear.

Can anyone confirm if this is true? Alan, do you have the new set or the old set if this is true?

This is the main reason why I stayed away from the Eibach's in the first place, it was the height drop. Though the MS springs are only 0.5" drop F/R.

I guess ZEROBIO must have the old set? Alan, are you able to get this? I trust Eibach more so than Tein's honestly.

This begs the question too.. was it always the same kit, but just a mis-print on the website? All this time, the Eibachs were 1.2" front, and 0.8" rear?

I called Eibach, and the girl that answered the phone doesn't seem to know whether this happened or not. She just confirmed that they are 1.2" front and 0.8" rear.

What do you guys think?

I like the Eibachs as well personally. I put the pro on my old car (integra GSR) just the springs over stock shocks. Good drop, good ride and still was fine in the winter. Didn't have to calibrate anything either (huge money saver). Much better handling, but of course not race car styles.

Dude what ever you decide, I suggest install yourself...more than willing to help ya out if ya need it. Did it on my old car with little to no problems and will do it again on my 8 when I get around to it.
