Want my neck brace? You're gonna need it!

They weren't that fast when I used to race. The thing is they actually feel faster than they are, especially if you are going into a corner 5 wide! Be careful. The good thing, having done the Mosport RDT (on a bike), the straights are short so you shouldn't kill yourself. Have fun!

I'd go, but $300? Yikes!

It would be awesome to drive those karts for 4 hours, but 300 dollars is steep. Ive got a 100cc 2 stroke that you can buy for 1800 and do whatever you want with it.

but as far as a learning experience im sure it would be great

The session Thursday was rained out but Friday was a go!
The fee includes the use of the carts, helmets, neck braces, racing jackets, gloves etc.
The Karts are in great shape and they are very fast!
The track (right beside the Mosport track) is awesome. BTW, there was a practice session on the big track for the weekend race and that really added to the atmosphere.
We also had a professional race photographer at the track.

Bottom line: I highly recommend this company and this experience.
I'll post some pictures and maybe some video of the event.

Later

The weather was kinda shitty this past week. Alot of events got moved over from Thursday to Friday...

Good to hear you had some fun! Makes the RX-8 feel like a boat once you get out of a go-kart!
You know, now that you've mentioned everything included in the price tag, $300 isn't so bad.... Hmmm, time to save some cash...

Definately like to see some of the pics!

Photos!!

At last I found some time to post some pics!
Note the front wheels off the ground in the third photo. It happens if you are really fast cresting the hill.
I almost hit the camera man in the last photo.
Next year I hope to see a few of you guys out there!

How much track time did you have in total?

We did a series of sessions through the day starting with a five minute session followed by a series of ten minute sessions. (about 50 to 60 min total)
The first sessions are run on a small section of the track until the owner feels that the drivers are 'getting it'. After that you do a track walk and then take on the full track. The track is very challenging with lots of elevation changes and blind sections.
While ten minutes may not sound like a long time I can tell you that it's about as long as most people can deal with in one stretch.

Hey DarkBrew, was this shifter kart event run through Mike Sammon of Formula Kartways? I'd definitely be interested and would have one other definite as well, possibly a second person too. Was it a weekday or weekend? $300 is a good price for the shifters.

Sorry, just read the title said it was a Thursday (then pushed to Friday). Do they offer it on the weekends?

Yes that's the guy.
He offers weekends at a higher price; $350 I think.
You have to arrange events well in advance.
