Mosport Lunch Hour Lapping!!!
Sorry Turboeight. It's an event setup by our good friend specifically for rotary Mazda's. Last year the only other car that wasn't rotary was 01racer's Mazdaspeed6.
I'm close to Aurora... It's easier for me to cut across then going all the way down to come all the way back up again.
Meet up with the rest of the guys at the Fifth Wheel stop. Can't lose everyone on the cruise up.

I am in. Can't wait.
My gf is coming too so I may just let her do the driving, she's sick of me telling her how awesome track days are, and how amazing the 8 is on the track - so now she can get a taste

So who is meeting at the Fifth Wheel?
Anyone just making their own way to the track? (I know Neo is for one).
I'm leaving from downtown Toronto so if anyone wants a mini convoy let me know
Anyone recommend a tire pressure? 34 in front, 32 in rear sound good on stock rubber?
Looking forward to the lapping and to meeting everyone.

I'm looking to meet up there, cant exactly join in on a convoy as I have a passenger to pick up on my way there first.
As to tire pressure I have a little experience with this, I'd put it to 38-40 all round , it will give you much better side wall support and a better feel through the corners.

PM SENT!
Actually, a few plans have changed. One of my friend's has managed to squeeze in this event. So I'm meeting up at his place for 9am and then heading out to Mosport. So if anyone is in the Finch/don mills area, we can definately convoy over.
Meet the rest of the guys at Fifth Wheel and then cruise up to the track.
Last minute changes are always a surprise!
Darkbrew,
We should be arriving at Fifth Wheel for 9:40ish. Hope we can still meet up before heading up to the track.
See everyone there....
If anybody is interested in convoying up from the area specified, PM me your cell and I'll give you a shout. I'll be checking PM's before I leave tomorrow morning.

Lates,
Hey guys,
Great to meet some new faces! It's unfortunate I had to leave early. But we had a great turn out.
At least some of you guys know what Mosport is like.
Anybody got any pics or vids?

I filled up at the Shell just off the hyw.
My trip odo showed 91km with 16 litres consumed.
Normal mileage for the trip to the track and back (50km) accounts for 6 to 6.5 litres
40 km on the track would be 9.5 to 10 litres.
or 23.5 to 25 litres per 100 km... 9.4 to 10 MPG

i think for the RX8 the automatic actually gets better fuel economy then the manual. due to the fact that the driver don't shift up.
A couple of picture from the day.
Good turnout, roughly 25 cars , a mix of both RX8 and all generations of the RX7's . I even saw Neo's 7 for the first time. It really does exist.
Nice to put a face to some of these user names

None of the on track video survived. I think that the drop sensor kept shutting off the hard drive in the camera. Anyway, the video shows the static parts of the meet.

Rotorwheee,
You've seen my car before!
Darkbrew,
That's a shame about the in car video. But I guess trying to hold the camera steady while you're hitting the corner at 140km/h and then hitting bumpy pavement will reek havoc on the poor HD.
No worries... I'm sure other people have a few pics from todays event.

29 - 34 L/100km is about right if you were running without limits.
I find it amazing how flat television makes a track.
I have a superbike race on my pvr in HD, and it almost eliminates the elevation changes from the course.
I must say that the venue was much more funnerer than your average Timmy's parking lot.
There were a lot of complainers though about the speed - I really don't know what you were thinking the event was going be like.
Great Idea, and if I still have the 8, and the event is repeated - will be there next year.
The castrol Canadian touring car race was interesting. That little orange MINI was quite fast. The vette and viper owned the field - kind of out of place if you ask me. Then the vette got pushed out and crashed at the bottom of 2 in the tires - almost saved it.
The 3 rotor RX-7 that shot 6ft flames on each liftoff was quite entertaining. If the sound was any indication, then it should have been the fastest - although I don't think it was doing much faster laps than the mini. Anyone close to the back of it would have been barbecued.
Good event - for those who didn't stick around for the race, you missed out.
Thanks Bruce for the Event! Well organized and the price was right
And Al in that Mazdaspeed 3 - perfect colour!
Some nice cars, and good to put some real faces and names to the avatars.
