Mazda at the Toronto Car Show

Mazda at the Toronto Car Show

Mazda's doing some great stuff at the TAS this year.
They will have the Kabura and the Nagare concept cars on display.

They will have an offsite ride and drive for the CX7 that all are welcome to attend.
Shuttle vehicles will take folks offsite to drive the new CUV.

Lots of great contests to win including a one year lease of a new Mazdaspeed3!

Come on out and support Mazda at the show.

If there's a concept that will impress the people, it'll be the Kabura! I was taken back by it! I hope Mazda can build something in those lines in their future models.
The Nagare is not as nice as the Ryuga, but at least Mazda is bringing in some concepts.

The Toronto show is still growing and I encourage people who haven't gone to Detroit, to definitely check out the T.O. show. Especially now that they've annouced the Kabura.

I know I will be going on the evening of the 16th. I always go opening night, it is rarely busy so you can really see stuff.

Nice to see Kabura and Nagare. They showed the Senku last year which no one cared about. I would love to see a speedsource ST car at the autoshow... Mazda should just buy the retired ones and exhibit it.

I hate Toronto Autoshow.. it feels like a giant dealership. More interesting concepts are good, way to go mazda. and the test drive is a good idea as well.

I just came back from the autoshow.

Good job to Mazda! they stepped it up, moved to a new location (unlike last few years), its a bigger place. they have 2 concepts, which is the most from any car company. The kabura is STUNNING in person, and nagare was not as bad as i thought. Pics dont do these concepts justice. Also had a stomry blue RX-8, pretty good colour, but i'd still choose WB over it.

2 speed6s, 1 speed3, 2 rx-8s. oh also take note of the rotating display where the CX-9 and CX-7 is on. its shaped like a rotor!!!! =d!!!

Good to hear Mazda is pulling out all the stops!

The Kabura is the best concept I've seen in a long time. It looks so production ready.

Mazda has been producing very nice models for the past few years.

We'll be picking up a CX7 very soon. Heading to the dealer tomorrow finalize the papers.

Went to the show with father and son, a yearly thing...

The tarted up grey RX8 GT sucked, those grey rims were awful, they could have spent the $3500 promotion on an appearance package, or anything else. The dark blue stock GS was better, but washes out in that light. Dark blue and grey...way to get attention Mazda! The S2000 was a neon orange, the G35 coupe was a Ferrari red, the 350z had polished 19' rims...who's in charge of Mazda sales anyways...my grandma? And why remove the interior *****? They aren't that easy to take off, and the dash looked like crap without it.

Otherwise, great show.

The dark blue was stormy blue. They take off the shift ***** because people steal them, whether it's easy or not. And I agree, the mazdaspeed rims that come with the performance package are poo. It would be nice if they'd let us decide what to spend the $3500 on.

I took the day off work and went yesterday.
It was nice to see the Kabura concept in person for the first time, still looks the best out of all the recent Mazda concept cars.

And of course I asked about a Mazdaspeed RX-8 and got the standard "should happen pretty soon" response. Well my lease is up in Sept. 08 so they better do something!

What did you guys think of the new Evo? I think it looks pretty awesome. One of the guys working the Mitsu booth said it would be priced close to the STI (about $50 k) which sucks because it starts at $32 K in the states.

The Evo does look alot meaner than it's predessors.
I wonder when they'll introduce a Mazdaspeed version of the RX-8. I think it's redesign is fast approaching!

Did you see the R8? I'm really impressed with that car. I'd still take the F430 though... :D

Lates,
Yes the R8 was nice, good job to Audi on that one.......without the "X" in the name you get twice the horsepower and about three times the torque

Your right, the F430 is a pretty amazing car.
Did you see the blue Gallardo in the south building...I think it was part of the SLJ customs display? They had alot of nice rides at that small display!

Neo - when do you get the CX-7? What colour did you order? Did you get the GT AWD model?

I would like to point out that the actual exhaust pipes on the R8 are tiny, and float in the middle of the tips. I found it annoying because the tips weren't physically connected to the pipes and you could see light right through them. But the rest of the car is nice. It will definately sell plenty with it priced as it is.

well, i guess i'm the only one that finds all this stupid. why so many useless concepts, sure they are nice, but what about a mazdaspeed8? why don't the focus on current production cars? what has happened to the rx8 that is good since it came out in 04, i know a drop in hp every yr. sorry guys did not mean to be a party pooper, but sometimes i feel as if they are gonna make a mazspd5 befor an 8

http://www.stradaautostore.com/

go there and click on 2007 Autoshow on the right side of the screen (some of the pics i took did not post all 300)

Chad,
In Detroit my bro got to sit in the Murciliago LP640. The Gallardo was a dark grey and it was the Spider version.
That blue one you saw, it didn't have alot of carbon fibre pieces on it, did it?

We were suppose to call the dealer yesterday with the colour we wanted. We called today and confirmed with a Platinum Silver. We already own a silver/grey Mazda6, my 3 is Carbon Grey. So I didn't want to have the 7 being the only bright car in the garage...
Yes, we got the GT AWD with Luxury package. No need for the Navi.
Car comes fully loaded with the all weather mats thrown in along with the rear dimming mirror with Homelink and Compass.
Not too shabby. 36G's.

qtwre,
What, are you trying to say the R8 is not worth it?? lol
The car is really nice. Alot of production firsts on that car. Can't wait to see the main headlight LED's the car will come with later in the year.
For that type of cash I would still take a Ferrari F430...
It's too bad you get stuck with that stupid traction control Manitino switch!

Tlovr,
What does this matter to you anymore... You're leaving the Mazda camp for the Chevy camp later in the year! Traitor!!

TLovr has a pic of the blue Gallardo from his link - I didn't see much of the interior, but the exterior looked fairly stock except for the nice aftermarket rims.

The CX-7 is a nice drive - had one for the day when they did the last recall. I agree, how often would you really need navi....just another toy! I would have ordered one exactly the same as you. And the have a fairly reasonable interest rate on the CX-7s now. Enjoy!

Thanks Darkbrew.

Took a look at Tlovr's link. That's a nice little web page you got going on...
Essentially all the cars you took pics from the show are the same ones I saw in Detroit. Right down to the same colours. Must be hectic transporting all those cars from 1 show to the next.
The only one they didn't have in Detroit was the SLR 722. The had the normal one in Detroit. Then again, they didn't announce the 722 until later this year.

I have to agree with Darkbrew about the Camero. I just don't see the appeal.

Chad,

I haven't driven the car yet. My bro has. But I imagine it's the same as all the other Mazda's. Emphesis on the sporty drive.
I just hope the auto tranny in "sport" mode will be able to hold gears and perform like a manual car.

The F430 Challenge Stradele has been making it's way around Italy in it's final testing phases. Rumor has it the beast will be making 525HP! In a lighter version of the F430!! Can't wait to see this beauty! I hope they give you the option to pick a true manual gearbox and not that flappy padel ****!

Neo, the R8 is priced around the 140 - 160K mark, That is significantly less then a F430. But I do agree, I would rather have an F430

Last time I saw the "suggested" price on the R8, it was going to go for 120-130G's US. Which roughly translates to 150-180Cdn! I love how they jack the price of the car up in Canada. There's never a direct conversion. I wouldn't be surprised if this car hits the road close to 200G's Cdn.
For an extra 40-60G's (those options are killer on the F430!) you might as well jump up to the Ferrari! LOL

At these price ranges another 40-60G's is not a big deal... LOL!!

Somehow I doubt the R8 is going to cost $200k out the door. That's way too expensive. You're smoking crack man. You're high. Smokey.

qtwre,

Don't be surprised! I'm telling you. The options on the car will make it near 200G's. You know how they love to gauge us Canadians!
It's not so hard to believe really. Look at a Porsche 911. A normal Carrera starts at 104G's. Now this is a base, base, base car. Now you start to add some options that should have been considered standard on the car. And the price is now hovering at 140-150G's!! And that's a normal Carrera!! You can try it out. Go to Porsche's site and start to add some options. I'm not talking about some silly interior trim. I'm talking about legitimate "upgrades".
Considering the competition, I wouldn't be surprised the R8 start at around 150G's as a "base" car. Then you start to add options. Even the rear "switchblade" can be made an option to be either painted or be Carbon Fiber. The SMG gearbox is an option. That alone is about 6-8G's Cdn easy! So now the car is close to 170G's before taxes.

So you see how I think the car will probably hit the road close to 200G's once you get through all the dealership bullshit and taxes.
