You won't need to do much... a 17 year old with an STi?
Should be written off soon enough...

17 and 20 with almost $100,000 worth of cars between the two of you!? You fall into an inheritance or what?

And... unlike the STi your car doesn't have a massive wing and wonky bodywork, so it's already a winner in my book.

Well I don't think the bolt on kits available will get you to those times, so you're going to have to cobble something together with a turbo and standalone or something.

Hey Ty, an STI is a good car, ugly as sin but a good car so congratulate him. Don't try to outmod him, an STI is the easiest car to mod.

If your concerned about 1/4 miles, get any second hand sportbike, most can pull the quarter into the 10's, many into the 9's...stock!

Otherwise, at your ages, the real competition should be who gets the most girls! In that case, you have an edge with the 8.

That's your first mistake there ... who cares if the STI is more powerful. It's got more displacement to start with and comes TURBO stock. Besides, who drives in straight lines all the time? You'll be able to take him in the curves. Upgrade the sway bars, shocks, etc. And if you really want to void your warranty, why not go with the GReddy turbo ... a few fellows have that already and the ground work is already done. Take a peek in the turbo/FI section of the forum.

Oh and street racing is bad ... remember that taxi driver that got hit by a bunch of kids in a Benz. Make sure you bro isn't getting the car to race his friends otherwise you may as well tell your folks to tack on an extra 50K for a funeral.

Why don't you just cut to the chase and measure your dicks?

TyAndrews, in case you're wondering how the GReddy is. It can do about 14s untuned. here is a video of Adrian-1 (I think?) and his turbo 8. He beat a turbo WRX (not STI?).
http://videos.streetfire.net/player....9-B4DE481D810E

But like I said, keep it off the streets if you are going to race.

What a couple of twits. Every Toronto cab driver is awaiting the sweet kiss of steel from your overpowered machines driven by retarted youngsters. Buy a Civic SI and slap some Newspeed stickers on it and bang into each other in your cul-de-sac. Punks.

Learn to drive faster in your 8 then, contrary to belief, its possible to beat an STI with an 8 if you really know your car, the racing line well and the weakness of the STI (maybe a mis-match of the gear ratio on a particular track). Sounds like you are feeling insecure coz your brother is getting a faster car. Even if he beats you, he's in a faster car. On the straight, no amount of skills is gonna beat an STI with your 8 stockwise.

Actually got it running low 13's now. Upgraded EMS, wider/stickier tires, and a little weight reduction. Not to mention all the other mods... clutch, flywheel, exhaust, midpipe,.. blah, blahb, ....

Frankly, I'd sell the 8 and buy an STi.

When the prices on the 2006 STI comes down I'll consider doing just that. I LOVE the new look.

Its still ugly DMP IMHO. But the STI is a great car. Having driven both, I still prefer the predictability and lightness at the controls of the 8, vs. the odd understeer/snap/oversteer characteristics of an all wheel drive.

But just before you do trade your 8 for a Subaru, take a last look at your pics in your garage. You'll be going from Charlise Therien to Rosie O'Donnel man. Ask yourself, who do ya want to wake up with??

...yeah, but I have to FEED Charlise so much. :D

I think the new STI is more like "Angelina Jolie" whereas the RX8 is like Jessica Alba.

Nice sermon "Blue" but considering their age and the initial post I doubt it will matter. If the guy puts out a question like this, you need to question why he bought the car in the first place.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE FASTER THAN YOU ON THE ROAD SO WHAT'S THE POINT?

What do you mean you can't move the car 6 months of the year? Are you saying the 8 can't be drivin in the winter? If that's the case, it's not the car that's lacking ...it's the driver.
