Hi Guys, With all this talk on the tech section about the "L" flash it seems like a good idea. Has anyone in Toronto got it done. If so what deliver did you go to?

 

I have not got it done as I am just about to get the car and I expect it will be done. However there are threads in the USA that are now referencing a M FLash. Some debate on the existance of a N Flash as well.

What are you guys talking about the L, M, and N flash. What is this, please explain.

When I bought my car, I specified that I wanted the flash done prior to delivery.

When I came to pick it up, I actually got to watch the tech uploading the latest program (M flash?) into the car. Cool!

 

That's cool what dealer it you go to? Buy the way the "M" flash is an ECU remapping that should make the car more fuel efficent and more responsive.

 

I am been trying to get the "M" flash loaded on my car but the service department at Rexdale (Airport Mazda) is having some problem updating the ECU...on other RX8.

I should be able to get my car re-flashed within the next few days once they get it to work...I let you know.

 

Just came back from Airport MAZDA today.
I have been hounding them to get my car flashed ever since I picked it up and found that my VIN was before the "L" flash.
MAZDA customer service was useless at directing me, or telling me how I could get this done - they actually hung up on me for taking notes while on the phone - said I didn't ask for permission to take notes - WTF?? Who are these people?

Eventually got the service manager @ Airport Mazda to download V30.8 into the wds. Don't know if this is "L", "M", or "N"

Anyway - dealers = SATAN.

Pick up car in March - VIN outside of "L" range.
Monday April 12 - Downtown Mazda - 5 hours ask for "M" V30.6? get 30.3 - What is that? Brake test for "L" doesn't work.
Wednesday April 14 - Airport Mazda - Ask for latest 30.6? get 30.8. Claim they couldn't load 30.6 into the wds. Put in 30.8 as they just received it on the 13th. Brake test for "L" doesn't work.

As per TSB - Pulse brake pedal 20 times in 8 seconds while key in on position - no oil pressure needle movement. NADA - NOTHING

WTF is 30.3, 30.6, 30.8? How do these numbers corelate to "L", "M", or "N"

I must give props to the service manager for buffing out the scratches I received from my visit at Downtown Mazda.

Anyone know how to check PCM version other than the brake method? Can the WDS read the current firmware version back?

The car has sat at the dealer for a combined 10 hours and I still don't know if I have the latest version.

All I can say - Love the rotary - hate the 16.5L/100km of premium - 300km in 50L. A chevy avalanche V8 gets better mileage.

Transport Canada rates 12, and 9 - how?

I am getting very close to my gas station attendants at this rate.
I panic everytime the low fuel light comes on.

Do you know if the 8 can tow a trailer? I might want to bring some extra fuel with me just in case.

Anyone with ideas? SATAN I tell you.

Got flashed This Saturday May 22nd at my Brampton Dealer Ship and Guess.. what? Looks like I got the version "F" flash which I think is a newer ifd not newest version. Brake test works. Milege not determined yet...just got it back so will havew to drive a bit.

Purchase'd car in May 2003. Was one of the early birds so my car definately had old software.
