Here is the info we're looking for:

STOCK
Front outer diameter: 26.3 mm
Rear outer diameter: 15.9 mm

Front gauge: 3.5 mm
Rear gauge: 2.6 mm

Gauge is the measure of thickness of the wall. So therefore, our stock sway bars are indeed hollow.


EIBACH
Front outer diameter: 27.0 mm
Rear outer diameter: 18.0 mm


HOTCHKIS:
Front outer diameter: 33.0 mm
Rear outer diameter: 21.0 mm

Leave the bars alone, put sticky tires on it and align it! If your going to do the bars you better be prepared to change shock and all the bushings to make sure everything is matched or it will handle worse than stock!

i would venture a guess that those hotchkis bars are only for serious race only rx8s that already have what al is talking about. custom A-arms with all heim joints instead of bushings. I think people are so obsessed with sway bars because they make a car feel like it handles on the street because they eliminate body roll....but without good tires, somethings gotta give right?
I sort of regret buying the AP sway bars for my car, thankfully i didnt go through all that trouble to install the front one. I still have it and wont be installing it so if anyone local wants one let me know. I did install the rear bar....i didnt notice any difference in handling on the street and i never tracked the car with the stock bar on the back so i have no comparison as to what effect it had if any. Im just gonna leave it as it is though.

Also, footman, where did you get the measurements for the stock bars? I measured all mine (front and back, stock and AP) when i installed the rear bar and i think your stock numbers are a bit off...i'll have to get my numbers from work and post them. My car has the sport (yellow dot) just so we are comparing apples to apples here.

My stock bars information came from the RX-8 technical specifications section of the "HOLY BIBLE" book by Jack Yamaguchi.

Sorry if I annoyed you (fck I know i am), but what exactly you mean the bar bushing will go bad once we change from stock bar to an aftermarket bar? 'cause of the harder material?

I have the Racing Beat springs and sway bars with D-specs
The RB philosophy seems to be softer spring rates with very stiff anti sway bars....

I think it's spot on and I love the way the car handles. The D-specs allow enough adjustment to get the damping where it needs to be. It's a very good set up for a street car/daily driver

BTW, I have an extra set of RB end links. I'll post them in the local for sale section.

I have been looking into the Progress Technology Anti Roll bar, and end links, but I have stock suspension right now. So are you saying this will not have a benefit when being used with stock suspension setup?

In my opinion, as you stiffen the suspension with spring, shocks and then sway bars the extra load you are generating has to go somewhere. That somewhere becomes the control arm/link bushings. To get the desired effect you then should replace those bushings with something significantly stiffer or even solid. When you get to that point you then get a car that is miserable to drive on the street. Thats just my opinion!

Like I have said in previous posts, I understand lowering the car to improve the look and stance. Going beyond that on a car that will never compete or go lapping on the track is not a good way to spend money.
