^^ You don't just park somewhere and just chill in your car?
Plus that's a good way to get a navi if you didn't get the factory one.

ya i just bought the car a month and a half ago. It was either i pay 4000 dollars more for a moonroof and navigation or i pay 1500 dollars for the parts and installation of this system (with the option of adding a Nav to it for another 3 bills). I wisely decided to do it my way.

Lol neo i see what you are saying. I drive this car real hard, the watching music videos and concerts is just a huge bonus to the fun of driving. From now on when i make the weekend nighttime drive to the club with my friends we are gonna have some kick *** video and sound.

I highly suggest this mod.

The Rx8 was made to be both sporty and luxurious and the way this galaxy grey and thats how ive been basing the mods.

total cost for parts/installation was around 1500 dollars, if u get a less expensive screen like a kenwood u can save another 200-300

You guys must chill alot in your cars if you need an LCD.
I don't chill in the car to justify getting an LCD monitor.

I guess I like cars to have the bare essentials...

What happens to that stuff during the winter?? I would hate to see that nice screen crack...

Lol...too funny.....Neo you don't even like an electric throttle so why am I not surprised you don't like this?

Some people do like a bit more luxury than a Ferrari F40 you know

Looks awesome by the way!

It's true.. lol

I prefer to have the car stripped of any unnecessary gadgets. Just weighs you down. Preventing you from going faster!

i love the rx7 too but hes right that the rx8s interior is amazing, espescially the 2007 galaxy grey its completely different this year.

btw my uncle just got a 93' rx7 TwinTurbo, he bought it off Martin Biron the goalie lol... (my uncle lives in quebec). the car only has 20,000 km. I can't wait to go and give it a try ive never driven one!

Heh I'm with Neo, I get out of my car as soon as it is parked. Because of the way the RX-8 cabin gets heat-soaked during the summer months, I get the f-ck out of the car as quick as possible. I also hate driving around after midnight cause the street is full of dumbf-ck ricers and cops. But I understand that this whole cruising around late at night thing seems to be part of the male DNA, and it's kind of nice to have video and music playing while you're gulping down drive-thru Wendy's.

qtwre,

Surprising to hear this from you... seeing as how you have a Miata...

I wouldn't say the interior is better. Just more modern. I know the A/C in all new cars suck. Regardless of marquee. I get into the FD and I'm freezing in 5min's! A/C units were alot better when they weren't so concerned with filtering all the freon and crap.
Speaking with Agent008, he tells me the RX-8 heat soaks tremendously! I wouldn't trust putting so many fancy electronic devices into the machine with so much heat. Having the stock stereo should be more than enough.

And as 9291150 said, another distraction from the act of driving is the last thing anyone needs. It doesn't matter if you've got a short attention span. Having a monitor that high and in peripheral view is bound to get very distracting.

If you want to hang out with your friends why not invite them over to your pad. Instead of hovering around in your car...

ok ok the only real criticism ive heard so far is about the distraction, and i still don't think its really that distracting. Nothing distracts me as a driver more than having a gf argue with me from the passenger seat, and sadly i don't see any laws against that...

As for the weight issue i really dont think that this screen weighs too much. I know lots of people care about 5 pounds here and there but in reality the most critical weight element in slowing down a car's speed is the weight of the driver. Im sure that heavy duty audio equipment with sub woofers would be more weight than this little thing. Perhaps i shouldn't bring my briefcase to work it might slow down my car?

Neo, I don't think the rx8's interior is just more modern, it's better. <-- PERIOD

My miata interior's got nothing on the rx8. The only thing better about your interior is the radio. Can't change these headunits.

I'm a little confused about the heatsoak thing. how does the rx8 heat up faster? I leave the sunroof cracked. Tan interior does't hurt either.

So if you sit around and chill in a heat-soaked 8, you can easily lose 5lbs and that would negate the extra weight of the LCD/DVD

qtwre,

I wouldn't exactly say the interior of the RX-8 is "better". It depends on what your definition of "better" is. I find it no different from any other interior. There are subtle differences between cars in it's class that make it "better". For example the door handles are built of actual aluminum. Most cars have plastic door handles. As for the actual dash, not much has changed. Usability is about the same as it is in the FD. I find the interior of the FD is geared more towards the driver. The RX-8's caters to both the driver and passenger. I hate it when passengers start to fiddle with my climate controls!

Heat soak is more noticeable in the RX-8 due to all those catalytic converters it has. Just get rid of them...

How many does it have? I thought it had one big one.

P.S. It's better By "better" I mean more pleasing to the eye. They really weren't trying in the early 90s.

Hmmm, I guess you've never seen the interior of an FD??? It look and feels like an airplane cockpit.

I thought the RX-8 had 3-4 cats. I think it's one big piece from the outside, but inside it's split into 4 different sections?

Let them settle it old school style....find a ravine and race to the edge. Closest one to the edge wins!
