One thing you should research is DRL (daytime running lights) requirements for licensing the car in Canada. The US cars don't have this. Canadian cars have a DRL module that replaces the high-beam control module on US cars. Unfortunately, the wiring is NOT the same in the two cars, so you can't just plug the Canadian DRL box into a US car.

I know for a fact that several RX-8s have been brought into Canada from the states, so it is possible. I just strongly advise that you figure this out before you actually buy a car.

You just need some sort of lights. When my mechanic used to work for Canadian Tire, they had the contract to take care of the cars that came across the border, he said he on some cars the easiest thing was to just wire up so the headlights are on all the time. If your 8 had HID's, than maybe you might not want to do this to burn them out sooner since the high-beam is just a regular run of the mill bulb and cheaper to replace, but it would be an easy quick solution.

Could always wire the fogs up to the accessory position as well.
