I thought we were all friends?

I wheeled into the Sunoco on Erin Mills Pkwy. south of the 403 around 2:30 pm today. I pull around to the pumps and there to my pleasant surprise was another 8 re-fueling. It was Winning Blue, titanium wheels, strakes, rear spoiler and a couple of other goodies. I'm nose to nose with it while waiting for a pump so I nod approvingly to the girl in the passenger seat. She could barely muster up a blank stare out the windshield. I thought to myself she must just be a hitch-hiker and doesn't know what she's siiting in. To make a long story short- I pull up to the pump beside the 8 and start fuelling when the driver comes out of the kiosk. He walks over past my car when I nodded and said "nice car". He looked at my 8 in passing and didn't say a word or even acknowledge me. I thought to myself what an... no I better not post what I thought, there may be kids reading this. This pencil necked geek should have been driving a 1984 Hyundai Pony. It just blew me away. Then it occured to me!
I have been shunned by the group for not attending the D&B meet a couple of weeks ago!!
I really wanted to go but the weather just sucked. I'm the one who previously asked where or what the hell is D&B. If I really have been shunned, how do I get forgiven? How many beers will it cost or was this guy just a freak?

I highly doubt that person even comes to this board... He must be one of those **** heads Mic mentioned. I bet when someone asks if that's a V8 engine, he will say... "Oh ya, It's V8, Super fast.."

I've experienced some people like that, where I've tried to give a nod or a wave, and they look clueless. Even though they have a fixed up RX-8, they give you this... "My car is better than your car" look. Most RX-7s though have been really cool... must be the fact that "most" owners of RX-7s still Must really like the car, and knows the history behind it... thus would appreciate the 8 more.

Beers???? Who said anything about beers????

Just bring Kimberly to the next meet, me, Mic, and Helas will take good care of her, then you're free to pick her up the next day, and you won't be the outcast no more :p j/k

I've got an FD and I find people looking at me sometimes. I try not to pay much attention cause I'm not sure if I really want it. However, I would always wave to a 7 and acknowledge an 8 if he sees me.

That guy was just rude though.

^indeed..very annouying when that happens...haha i hardly ever see an 8...and the ones i do see are driven by someone who obviously thinks they are more "high class" than me b/c of what they are driving or how much they make..so they never give me a wave or anything ...ah well...not liek i'm not in an 8 as well...haha people can be funny sometimes. but all in all the ones i have talked to great people really nice. haha and they can put up with my babbleing :D (hehe thanks all you crazy 8 owners at MSCW and TRI-State) :D

This type of thing happens all the time. Unless I've met the person driving the 8 at a meet or somewhere else, I won't wave... Simply because I've waved before and I never get a response back. Even if you pull up beside them... they still won't acknowledge you...

The opposite is true of 7 owners... I have yet to come across a 7 owner who doesn't wave or pop the lights when one of us go by...

I guess alot of 8 owners are too good for their predessors...

I expect most of you guys to show up for the Ottawa meet!! Just saw Mic's post... He can't make it, but the rest of you have no excuses!!

That's weird...I always nod/wave if I see another 8 and usually people nod/wave back. I even do the same the rare times that I see 7s...the guys have shown respect back, too.

For the most part people in Calgary wave to each other unless we see that it is KHTM....then we wish we were driving something different. :D

Rickim, There all right, These people do exist and they don't deserve this car. I think I speek foreveryone when I say you are not shuned from the famile for not showing up at acoupple meets. After meeting you in Belleville I know that if you could come that you would have. I know it's hard but thr not to let this assh@le get under your skin.

Don't even let these people bother you . It's not worth it.

I really enjoy seeing other 7 and 8's on the road . I always wave. Sometimes a don't get a wave back , no biggie .

I've had the same thing happen too, no biggie. They just don't get it. Sad for them if you ask me. The RX family is huge and a gr8! Their lost. Period.

So I made a trip to Toronto for a dental conference this weekend and briefly talked to 2 RX8 owners. They were pretty clueless on what the car was (which was sad to hear). One guy with a titanium GT w/ sunroof didn't know about the rotary engine .. and thought it was just a special "rotary" transmission (yes ... @#$@#$@ was what i thought). The other guy, which pains me to say owned a Winning Blue and bought it cuz "his wife/gf liked the color better than the 350Z". He seemed to be saying that he "settled" for the 8, when he really wanted the Zed. GRRR!

On the other hand, I sighted another blue going south on Yonge at Bloor. Also a silver going west on King at John.

True... It does happen all the time... Not everyone knows/cares about what they drive as we do. But if you don't give a wave you decrease your odd of receiving one 10 fold.

I don't get to see other 8's that much for some reason. But when I do I don't get a wave back.

Back in my old Miata days I'd get waves all the time.

I almost waved to a guy in an 8 but then I remembered that I was in the camry. I'm glad I didn't, I probably would have looked like a dork or a gay-guy
