How long for the ecu to 'learn'??
So, I was reading how the ecu learns and adjusts itself to your driving style ... what I read into this is that if you drive like a granny the engine will be less responsive/more economical, but if you drive like michael schumacher you'll get better acceleration etc. Correct???
Anyway, I've got some track action coming up at the weekend :D and was wondering how long it takes the ecu to adjust to a more agressive driving style. I wanna make sure that I kick some WRX *** and reckon I'm gonna need the extra speed. Thing is ... do I have to tear around Calgary for a whole week or will it adjust itself after a lap or two???
Cheers!
PS ... if this is covered somewhere else in the forums I couldn't find it, but if you know where this info is, please post a link!

To be honest with you I don't have any idea how long it takes to learn. But as far as I know it is always learning (someone please correct me if I am wrong). My best advice would be reset the pcm before you go out on he track. Again... this is just coming from a voice inside of my head... so take it as a grain of salt if youd like.

I'm pretty confident to say the "learning" is a closed loop thing.
Learning is based on continual adjustment of the fuelling to maintain stoich. That can only happen in closed loop.
When you are fanging it around the track, it would be open loop pretty much the whole time, so no chance to learn and adjust.
Cheers,
Hymee.

If it's anything like mostof the other ECU's it will have short and long term memory. Short term will always give you performance maps if the driving conditions warrant it. Long term will see increased timing advance and more aggresses fuel mapping and will adjust "normal" to include this.
