Question Help me please

So I had to add the first little bit of oil tonight. Dipstick read just below the lowest of the 3 dots and owners manual said each dot is about 0.5l. I added less than 1 l (maybe 750ml) and now the dipstick reads like all the way over the full mark. It would bother me so much if the manual didn't say overfilling could bring on engine damage.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question and I sure as hell hope it hasn't been posted allready so I'm wasting everyone's time (just freaking out a little...)Should I just drive the snot outta her so she burns the excess oil or is there more to this?

Thanx in advance

G

Very often the dealer fills it over the full mark. Not ideal but should be fine unless your an inch over the full mark, which I doubt. Remember that when you check your oil, make sure the car has sat for at least 2 hours and is on relatively level ground.

If you are uncomfortable, just take it to the dealer and have them empty some out, but I don't think 3/4 of a LITRE over the full mark will hurt you any. But I am not an expert, but have been in your position before and no issues to report.

In fact, I have read that if too full, some oil spits back out on to the air filter so you can complain about that ang get a free air filter in the process.

It happened to me, I blamed it on them when they changed my oil and I got a free air filter.
