Guess my car is a little too shiny
I zaino'd the car again on the weekend and it looks great. Perhaps too good though.
I'm on my way to get the winter tires on this morning and I hit a speed trap. I'm doing the same speed as everyone else on the road, between 65 and 70 in a 50 km/h zone. Sure enough, I'm the one that gets pulled over. She has me clocked at 70. I told her I was surprised that it was that fast but whatever.
She takes license, registration over to the cruiser and comes back a couple of minutes later with the ticket, put down 67 km/h. No discussion, no nothing. She says to choose option 3 if I don't want the points. She'd knock it down in court. You're darn right I don't want the points. But why the hell wouldn't she just knock it down to 64 right there? 67 instead of 70 does me no good. I thought she'd come back from the cruiser and I'd get a warning. But no!!! I haven't had a ticket in 24 years and I don't like anymore today than I did then. At least then, he knocked it down for me so there were no points (and I just a punk 17 year old in my dad's car late at night in the rain).
Maybe I should stop using Zaino

Zaino seems to be the least of your worries here.
Acutally keeping your car clean is one of the best ways to NOT get a ticket.

Red car + speed trap + speeding = ticket. It's always the flashy car that's pulled over in the speed trap - I think they try and make a point of it, at times, to prove to all the other people in lesser cars that they can catch you.

Female cops are the worse. I think they feel like they have something to proove to the rest of the world. No sweat, just take it to courte and plee not guilty and go from there. You have nothng to loose.

I thought she was going to come back to the car (after discovering that I had a spotless record) and just give me a warning. I've had lots of close calls over the years so I guess I was due for a ticket but I don't deserve points. She didn't have to do that. I'm sure I'll get them taken care of though.

no it's not. I've talked to cops and seen reports on that. The "Red" car doesn't get pulled over more than another color. They look at the condition of the car and who is driving it far more that the stereotypical red sportscar.

Hmm.
Maybe they don't specifically pull over red vehicles, sure. But look at it this way, in a sea of moving vehicles, the human eye picks up colour, moving and still, much better when there is contrast with the background. The police, presumably, are human. They will notice red vehicles moving more so than other cars moving; they might not pull them over, but they will notice them.
That being said, I wonder if they'd notice if a small woman in a flaming pink sombrero driving a minivan... They sure didn't a couple of months ago.

all the cops I've talked to say it doesn’t happen that way. Put it this way. When I was younger I worked in a bar for a while. After a while you developed a talent for seeing things in a crowd that other might not because you know what to look for....same thing with cops in traffic.
A cop friend once explained to me if you had two cars speeding side by side...say a 911 and a Chevy pick-up which one do you think they would pull over? Not the 911. The reasoning is that if they are going to pull someone over the chances of more violations or indiscretions are higher than with the guy in the Porsche. The guy in the Porsche probably has his Insurance paid up and no outstanding tickets. I know it’s an assumption but its one that works. This is also why they will pull over a beater or really dirty car rather than a well kept clean car.....maybe it’s an inferred responsibility.

I've been driving a red vehicle for 13 years (MX-3 and now RX-8). I've been pulled over once in the last 13 years and was given a warning. I have to admit though that I do have a horseshoe up my ****. I do speed but not excessively ... I mean , who doesn't do 130 on the 401, and who doesn't do 65 in a 50? But I've never been caught. I was due ... and the horseshoe was starting to get awfully uncomfortable anyway.

an RCMP constable.. told me at the local timmys he normally picks on expensive cars /high end, the more affluent... his reasoning, the money for them shouldnt be a problem and they normally just pay the fines rather than disputing it..
i tell you when it comes to traffic policing i have very little respect...
i wish i could do 130 on our BC highways...it would be a miracle if people learned to stay inthe correct lane appropriate to their speed.. it normally seems that the right lane moves faster than the left here...

Don't waste your money on a jammer, for starters they can detect them, secondly they don't always work, and lastly they do jack for laser which is what a lot of departments are using. Which btw, even the "laser" detectors they have out there aren't going to help you, trust me.
Fight the ticket, you have absolutely nothing to lose at all other than being convicted. I've heard all sorts of pleas but if you go i'd recommend showing the judge your driving record and asking for a break because you were in the flow of traffic. Not to say plea guilty all together but you can plea guilty with an explanation...depends on the judge and their mood, but it's better than trying to do a not guilty plea. The cop won't be compelled to court and i'm sure a judge can understand 67 in a 50 is nothing. You will have a hell of a time trying to fight it on the radar or laser, if she locked your car in, you're screwed.
Points on your licence mean nothing with insurance companies. Several years ago at 21, I had 4 tickets, 2 of which I had no points taken but I was on facility insurance. The companies are there to make money, they'll find any excuse to make you pay a premium, which is what i was told by several of them when i tried to get a quote. Makes me wish i tried to go in and explain it too.
With the insurance increase you'll get on the conviction, it's worth it in the long run to spend the time going and trying to work a deal. Even if you pay the equivalent of the fine to a charity or something if push really comes to shove (although i wouldn't outright offer that).
Good luck

That Sucks. I got caught by a female cop in my old red rocket. She gave me a ticket for going 70 in a 60 in a merging lane. No write down or nothing. But it was only $32 and no points so I just paid it.

I once was with a guy with a jammer installed. We went for a ride and he blasted by this cop doing close to 90 in a 50 zone. I think the jammer worked because he didn't come out to the road to stop us. But instead he got into his cruiser and chased us down. Not sure what evidence he had to nail the guy I was with. But anyway, I've come to the conclusion that they really aren't worth it.
