GS availability

I've decided to lease a RX-8 GS in GTA, but it seems the dealer is having problems locating a car for me. Is this to be expected? Are there not many GS's around?

Trouble is I need to get a VIN from the dealer or my insurance quote will expire. Any suggestions? Anyone experienced delays getting a GS?

Thanks.

I waited 4 months for mine......not many ppl want the gs in Canada due to it not comming with traction control.

GS is the way to go!

think about all the weight you'll be saving versus GT

Its about 150lbs difference!

I'm in Toronto. So if I had to wait 4 months, then it'd be winter already! This means putting on winter tires and not being able to drive it in dry weather on 18" for a while, sigh...

So the dealer is saying that he can't get any gs's at all?

thers a few GS's up here that you could look into as well. the dealer could probably work something out and you can make it a roadtrip back or have them deliver it... (as an option) i dont remember what the stock was like though, but i do remember seeing a few of them.

Well the dealer hasn't "officially" gotten back to me yet. But I called and they said they'll let me know next week, next week being the 2nd week already. I'm surprised that 1) it's proving difficult to find and 2) they don't just give me a straight yes/no answer. Honestly if I have to wait months then I'll just cancel the deal.

I decided to get the GS because that was the better leasing deal for me. Unless people have gotten really good deals on GT here. I'm only doing a 2 year lease though...not looking for a long term thing. Hence my lack of patience as well :p

I signed the papers for a blue GS 13 days ago. Last Monday they told me it was "on rail" somewhere between Vancouver and Hamilton. They had called other dealers before reserving one off the boat but I guess they couldn't find one. I've stopped calling them everyday... when I do get the phone call it'll be a huge surprise.

Congratulations on the new car (hopefully it arrives soon)

They still have a Nordic Green GS here (I am surprised it didn't sell fast, seeing as I haven't seen another one on the road)

Have a good day!

Yeah, they always want to push what's on their lot. Aside from the fact that the mark-up for the gt is wayyy bigger than the gs. be patient and get the gs. It feels faster than my buddys gt and the cloth seats are the bomb... :D

I've been told Ajax Mazda sells the most RX-8's in Southern Ontario and usually has a large selection of both new and used. Ask for Brad (sales manager) and tell him Stacy (blue RX-8) sent you.

wat color u want? i see many rx8 gs out there. Dont go to markham or scarbo maz coz markham maz has bad service and scarbo maz has no car in stock. U can call frank at mazda toronto, he can give u good price. Just tell him how much u want to pay, he can satisfy u real fast. Wont waste ur time.

Thanks for all the referals!

I'm looking for a red GS. I'm definitely not going to Markham or Scarboro or Ajax Mazda, they've all given me crap service (sorry Stacy). No one took me seriously there, so I'll never go there again.

Alan Balinsky, who is the general manager at Scarboro Mazda, posts here. I talked with him on the phone and did not run into any problems, perhaps you should go back to the dealership and speak to the right person. He is in 10 to 4 on Thursday.

Thanks for the info Rontec.

I don't intend to use this forum to bash specific dealerships or anything like that, I'm just speaking from personal experience. I'm sure the GM you talked to is a nice guy and gave you couteous service and all that. But in the sales biz, if you upset a customer, then don't expect him to come back.
