Who would be interested in joining me to order a set of Bilstein B8 shocks from Europe?
Please don't try to derail the thread by posting responses like "Why Bilsteins? just get coilovers..." This thread is not about which shocks to get or why one is preferred over another. The decision is already made.

The B12 kit is basically tuned H&R Sport Springs + tuned B8 shocks.
The HD are the ones comes with RX8 R3.
I want the B8/B12 kit since I want to lower my car.
If you are still using stock springs / even racing beat ones that only drops 0.5", the HD from Rx8 R3 should be fine.
That is what I am planning to do next summer. If I am going Racing Beat springs I will take the R3 shocks. Otherwise I may need to go find some B12 kit / B8 shocks from Europe + Tien HTech from US....which is uber expensive @$%^

I did extensive research on bilstein B8's. I even talked to reps from Bilstein in europe.
The B6's are what's known as Bilstein HD in North America. The rep said that the Eibach prokit will work fine with the B6 or the B8. Essentially they said that the B6 are for if you want a more comfy ride (less stiff), whilst the B8 are sportier (more stiff). Neither would wear down the shock as if they were mismatched or something like that. They said specifically that the B6 and B8's were designed in-house for springs like H&R and Eibach and fully warranty them against any problems when used with those two brands of springs.
Bilstein also says that in Canada, the distributor is Marcor www.marcor.ca
I spoke to a gentlemen at Marcor (Jim Pinfold). They definitely serve retail clients too and not just wholesalers. They have a retail store located in Hamilton. The B8's can be special ordered through them.
The B8 sprint's part numbers are as follows:
Front: BE5-B006
Rear: BE5-B007
The B6 (Bilstein HD in North America) part numbers are as follows:
Front: BE5-B004
Rear: BE5-B005

If interested, I suggest we do a group order of the B8's. I'll volunteer to pick up the shocks in Hamilton, someone can buy me lunch (I like CHICKEN!! har har)... and I'll also visit NVX while I'm down there too.
B6 group buy no point because you can buy these ANYWHERE in Toronto...

I want to put my money into the shocks first before going to the track. I've already got the Eibach Pro kits, and they already make a noticable difference going around the pace lap at Mosport this year versus last year!

It's http://www.marcor.ca...
All I have to say is that you guys put more thought into your shocks than half of the regional racers out there.................and spend more money too. Before you blow god knows how much on shocks, YOUR DRIVING STREET CARS. Take it from someone who already spent way too much money on suspension for a street car:
1: Dont replace your shocks until you need to (about 7-10 years)
2. Dont put ultra high performance or race shocks in your street car, especially non adjustable ones, you will be sorry when you realize you lost the handle on the car and can't adjust it back.
3. The difference in laps times between your stock shocks and ultra high performance ones might be 1/2 second with an amateur driver (yes I am including myself in that catagory)

The B12 kit looks good for me
Tuned H&R Sports Springs + Bilstein Shocks...you can buy that too?
btw, I strongly suggest you to go on a track day first before getting the shocks too for the difference.
What you've done in mosport is definitely NOT track day at all. Go to Shannonville, go crazy, and then you can really feel the car.
A real track day in mosport will scare you shitless (especially when you get Al to drive it lol).
Just my opinion of course =)

Nissan GTR uses Bilstein Shocks too.
The B12 kit with the H&R springs, I don't know if it's the same as the regular H&R spring lowering set for the RX-8, but if it is.. it's something like a 1.2" drop front AND rear. The Eibachs are 1.2" front, 0.8" rear.
I can feel the mismatch right now with stock shocks and Eibachs whenever I hit a bump on high speed corners. The wheels don't rebound down fast enough causing my tail end to skip a lot.
I was hoping the B8's will fix that.

sigh... if I had the money I'd be all over this... I need new shocks in a bad way.. my car is getting mooshy. Hell... I'm stock height and I've bottomed out over some nasty roads
