First, I didn't really get around to posting it, but I got my 2005 RX8 Winning Blue GT about 2 months ago and I have been LOVING it since. Thanks to all the helpful threads and responses on this forum.

Now, to the story:

So, I was at work finishing up (Starbucks Coffee) at about 9:30pm tonight. I'm sweeping the floor and glance up out the window into the lot as I often do to look at my car. I see the lights are flashing and I notice the alarm is going off. I'm like O DAMN someone broke into my car. I run out and I see someone in another car racing out from the lot but I didn't really think anything of it since people do that alot where I live. People in riced up Civics think they're cool. Anyway, after I verify my car hasn't been broken into, I assume I pushed the panic button through my pants. But, as I am walking around the car, I see a nice borderline hairline to full crack in my bumper with some scuffs as well.

I don't need this. I love this car but I really don't. I'm a pretty young guy and stretch my budget as it is to keep the car. Anyway, I swallowed my pride.

That guy racing away must have pulled up too far and hit my car, freaked out and sped off. I didn't get the plate since it was dark but I think it was an accord. Like that's gonna help the cops.

Anyways, I thought I would tell you guys. I THINK the bumper will have to be replaced, but maybe I could get away with a pull at a bodyshop.

I will post pictures tomorrow, but anyone have any idea what a bumper will run me at a dealer in the GTA??

Which bumper was it? Your in Toronto, if u want a good shop, go to Velocity Autobody Shop, they did some good work for a very good price for me, they fixed my rear bumper, even a chip in the rear portion of the valence, which everyone said was impossible, and they did a good job on my diffusers.

 

I have a rear bumper Brand new....if you want I can sell...I just got it from factory, But VR though. Never even mounted...

Dealer bumper cost $470 I believe

Is the bumper dented or just scuffed? If it's not severely dented or broken, a new paint job will fix the problem.

 

nope, from MAzda japan they don't...

but the dealer painted mine.!

 

My insurance deductible is $1000 so no deal there.

It's actually cracked (basically a bad hairline crack) which is big enough that a new coat of paint won't fix it but not so bad that it's horribly noticeable. I will post pics soon. I just kinda wish people would have the ***** to own up to their mistakes
