Freak accident

I was driving along Kennedy north past 407 on the left lane, passing the two dealerships on the side.

It was a sunny afternoon.

I was just following traffic with my sunroof open.

Sunddenly a fish "thread" like object tangled between my driver side mirror and the car body.

It scratches all the way to my left side front window.

I freaked out and tried to grab it and yank it away.

It cuts. It hurts like hell.

I swerved to the middle of the road in pain, trying to get rid of it.

The car behind me beep and swerved to the opposite lane!

When I stop, that "fish thread" object is gone.

However, damage is done.

My left hand is cut, no blood, but a hard line with signs of burn mark since it was too fast and the thread just cuts....

There are scratches on the plastic holding the driver side mirror, a deep line on the left side plastic panel that seperate the two windows. Some 5cm of plastic molding around the driver side small window is gone, with deep scratch from the end of that molding to the rear window.

The upper left body and upper rear body has multiple lines of thread scratch as well.

I am still shaking when I think of that few seconds of terror.

I am lucky by not riding on a bike. My head may get cut off.

**** happens. Drive safe and expect the worst....

Kafka, come over to my place at Yonge / 7. Let me see what I can do with scratch-X and random orbit polisher to fix the scratches..

As for the plastic piece between the two windows, maybe a good opportunity now to upgrade it by covering it with a piano black decor like on my car.

The plastic molding on the rear side window, unfortunately, it's one piece as part of the window and cannot be replaced.

The scratches on the black plastic portion of the side mirror is not "hidable" by any means. If it's actually plastic matter that has scratched off ,then you're out of luck. However if it's "white marks" deposited by the hook, the white marks can come off, leaving you with a "black scratch marks" that aren't as visible.

Let me know if you need help, I hate all these road hazards that my car goes through randomly as well... I recently ran over a brick in the middle of the road that was unavoidable. I also hit a blackbird carcass that was THROWN UP from the rear wheels of the car in front.

The bird hit my hood, then hit the windshield with a loud THUNK, and up over the car. Left some scratches in the front and almost cracked the windshield into my girlfriend's face

dude, am sorry this happened... but honestly, u used really lousy judgement, and you're lucky it wasn't something that would've taken your fingers, hand, or arm clean off. u r also lucky that u didn't hit anyone, and that no one hit u...

never, EVER reach outside the car and try to fiddle with **** or debris while driving- even if it means your car getting damaged. so be it. ur car is fixable. u losing limbs or fingers is NOT!

sorry to be brutally blunt. but, u could've hurt or killed someone else on the road...

Great to hear you and the car are basically fine. I hope you know I'm just screwing with you and hope to see you again in the near future. Have not seen you for awhile, I guess were moving in different crowds (Old Farts)(????).

this is odd. just be glad we don't have the amount of debris that our southern neighbors have. every time i drive to Florida i appreciate just how clean our highways are.

Thanks footman for showing me his magic touch...most of the scratches are gone.

Moreover, the ones that left on the car really chipped the paint...gotta fix it before winter season...
