First flooding:-(

So I joined the club. I have a 2004 6 speed that won't start.

Bank Street Mazda towed it for me, and now they're trying to say that you only get one free "flooded" issue per vehicle and the previous owner had already brought it in. I said "I purchased an extended warranty and you're towing me and paying for my rental" Then they told me there's fire a heat shield and control arm recall and they'll fix it for free but it will take two days.

My question is what am I entitled to from Mazda? Should they pay for everything the tow, 2-3 day car rental and future floods?

Also, I called Mazda Roadside assistance and they informed that my coverage was over, and I informed them that i had purchased an extended warranty. they then informed that a warranty does not extend Roadside assitance. Has anyone experience an extension of Roadside assitance? I was told when I bought the warranty that it was included, but we know salesmen will say anything.

Last but not least, early RX-8 owners were given a cash rebate or free service because of a false advertisment in horsepower. Is that "free service" transferable to a new owner?

Thanks

The "free service" IS transferable (according to the president of the dealersip I bought from), but it only covers scheduled maintenance, not TSBs that were not done during the warranty period.

Your extended warranty terms will say what is covered and what is not...KEEP RECEIPTS!

Warrenty

I'm currently working as Automobile Sales consultant in Acura.

For Acura vehicle, if you buy extended warrenty then your Road side Assisstance
will be extended as well, but every company has different policies. For Mazda I think you have to purchase seperate for extended Road Side..

I do also have 04 RX8 and mine never flooded yet. Can you tell me how did it happened? Any tips you can give me to avoide flooding?

Thanks

I didn't let the car warm up properly before shutting if off. I was just moving it out of the way for someone, approx. 2min of running time in -30 weather:-(

They're making me pay for my rental 1 day, but the tow was free.

My big concern is future flooding is on me, and I think it should be covered under the Mazda Roadside assitance.

Anyways, I'll let you know what they come up with.

Thanks.

I had my second flood last week (1st was in the Summer and I managed to start it after 20 min) when it was -20 deg C. Not sure if it was related to the cold but I gave up after 4 tries and the battery started to show signs of losing it. Called roadside assistance from work expecting that they wouldn't come due to the fact that it was at home (my boss was refused when he called because he wasn't away from home, but it wasn't Mazda) but they came and towed it to the dealer for free. Servicing was also free but all they did was let took the plugs out and let it dry, while they convinced me to do my 48 mo. service at the same time which they did. My 04 GT was bought in Sept 04, with 1 yr ext. warranty. Not sure if the roadside is for 2 or 3 yrs but I should be in the same boat as your 04 GT. hope this is not a regular even when it gets cold becuse somewhere down the line, Mazda will stop servicing it for free. In the mean time, all the dealer told me was Mazda is working on it. Somehow it doesn't sound too comforting...

have they fixed the flooding problem (or made it much tougher) on newer RX-8? I don't think I have heard of flooding issues for MY2006 and MY2007 RX-8s

who is the warranty with? Mazda or a third party?. secondly i worked a dealership for yrs now and i have to kindda agree with them. warranty covers manufactures defects, not customer negligence. when i frist got the car i did not tighten the gas cap good enough and got a CEL i took it to the dealer and they said it was b/c of that and i knew it might have been b/c of that since i filled up 20min ago. they said this one is on the house but the next one u pay. if i was mazda canada and got a warranty claim say the CEL on and gas cap was not tighten properly, and not the dealer wants .5 hours of labor ($50 warranty claim) b/c the customer was to stupid to tight a gas cap :S. its the same with flooding, only that u can pin on a few more things rather then the customer (starter, plugs... whatever) so that most of the time goes under warrant (get the faster starter if you don't have it installed)

Faster Starter?

Is this a recall upgrade? Or do I have to pay for it?
