Tentative date: Sunday, October 19
1) Footman YES
2) Neo YES
3) Kris NO
4) RXSmooth YES
5) NVX
6) Kafka YES
7) Thumper3322 YES
8) RX8hoser YES
9) Prospectjtaz
10) Nate340
11) Sanguine YES
12) Thief YES
13) WCS NO
14) 9291150 YES (aft. drive)

...count me in once you all get to the Forks.

For the aft, as a local, I'd recommend the The Barber Towne Pub rather than Zio's as it has a bigger open parking lot and a nice beer list. A great drive after that would be a 20km stretch west on 15 sideroad - trust me, you'd love it. Mohawk Raceway & Slots could be a stop. Taking 10 sideroad back is another great road, or just jump on the 401 at that point.

Footman 09-22-2008 06:05 PM

Very well, I shall change to The Barber Towne Pub since you're local, I trust your knowledge.

Check post 1 for updated list, I will try to highlight a map out.

10th side road and 15th side road head WEST from Georgetown. That's not really feasible for most of the GTA members on the return drive. However...

Is there a way to see 10th side road, and 15th side road all the way around to reach back to the Forks and then head to Georgetown?

Doing a mini "lap" of 15 to 10 sideroad would only be a 30 minute round trip from the pub location - lots of low to medium speed S curves with next to no traffic. With 80km/hr ave. limits you don't need to risk limb or license to enjoy it. The drive from the Forks will be coming from the east, if you want we can plan a interesting route after the Forks to Georgetown, I'll PM you my #.

Footman 09-23-2008 05:50 PM

yes, please plan an interesting route after the credit.
We are going through the credit towards hockley valley road in orange ville, stop by a park, do the pumpkin thing and then head back THROUGH the credit (reverse direction) and then switching over to your route back to Georgetown okay?

nvx 10-01-2008 09:43 AM

YES. i'm in.

Footman 10-01-2008 10:05 AM

After NVX, we finally have 10 people that are confirmed going.

I will contact with that 9293289638912278953287523 member guy here on the forum to scope out some good roads.

On the day:
1) Bring a pumpkin
2) Bring a MEDIUM KNIFE (4 inch blade minimum for carving), daggers are too large.
3) Dress up or pretend to be someone.
4) You will each be provided with a paper map.
5) List of cell phone contacts of some people should you get lost

prospectjtaz 10-01-2008 10:36 AM

Thief has my machete, so unfair advantage to him

Footman 10-01-2008 10:43 AM

2) yes unless you have razor sharp claws to cut pumpkin with your nails
3) optional, you can pretend to be Taka all day cause he isn't coming

rotarygreg 10-02-2008 05:14 PM

im very interested in this, but quick question, i dont have my 8 yet, picking it up on saturday after work, so i dont know what to expect for gas....with all the driving planned, how much would you guys be expecting to go through? also, i really dont care for pumpkins...its kind of a weird thing of mine...scarred as a child or something, i dont know. would it be cool if i didnt take part in that? Dont want to be a party pooper or anything but i find pumpkin carving to be very unpleasant. Also, im unsure of the meet up location, does this all start at scarb mazda or what? I read all the posts, but it doesnt say so on the first post so i just want to clarify. Oh, and what time is this all starting at?

If you plan to do the full Guelph -> Markham/Scarborough -> Georgetown -> pleasant drve -> ??? -> Guelph, you're looking in the ~250 to 275km range. Your car might not be as much of a gasoholic as mine but I would expect no more than $40 for gas.

Don't worry about the pumpkin. I'm not sure if I'll be bringing one either. I'd really have no where to put it afterward.

Can't wait for the drive. I guess I gotta clean my car again that week.

Footman 10-06-2008 09:51 AM

It goes in the garbage can at the park afterwards. You can bring it home if you want to...

Footman 10-06-2008 09:51 AM

You should clean your car often :)

I'm in for this meet/cruise, but I'll head down Mississauga Road, instead of up with you guys.

Of course this depends on the details posted later on this week.

Recommendations:
Set up Meet points in Markham, Mississauga.
I suggest we set a meet spot at Markham an 16th, I can give directions to Thumper how to get here using Bayly and Hwy 7.
Trek down 16th, I would suggest a meet spot at 16th and Woodbine, but I think Neo will be in Mississauga.
Set up meet spot near Mississauga Rd. and Rutherford Rd., where guys like NVX and other West end guys will meet.
Maybe set this near a pub/Deli, for quick bites.

This your meet Footman, so set it as you please. Also decide on time points.

I can't copy and paste on the iPhone (cue Thief's iPhone fails comment), but someone update the cruise members list with the new guys and me.

I say no pumpkin for me, it's gonna get cooked in the "Dominos Heat Wave" trunk.

Initiation for new guys require them to drove behind me or Neo in the FD.

Thief 10-06-2008 11:18 AM

See my comments in bold.

iPhone sucks

Bring a frozen pumpkin pie. By the time we get there, it'll be fully cooked and ready for eats.

You wanna kill them? We want more members in 8 club, not less.

rotarygreg 10-06-2008 11:40 AM

im in for sure. no pumpkin, but wheres the meet point and at what time? Im coming from guelph, and i dont spend alot of time near TO or sauga or anywhere over that way really, so some place screamingly obvious and easy to find would be great

Greg

Thief 10-06-2008 12:09 PM

I say we meet at Scarboro Mazda or at Jack Astor's parking lot again. I mean, the best way to head out west is highway, and those two locations are probably the closest.

Footman 10-06-2008 12:27 PM

If nothing has been heard from Kafka concerning the "morning half activity meet at Scarboro Mazda" by Wednesday Oct 8, then the start location will be changed drastically.

The route map, times, schedule shall be released on Sunday Oct 12.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:15 PM.
