But seriously, I might do some real, actual maintenance this year. Plugs/coils, maybe even an oil change ... might think about new tires ... gotta keep the wallet in check though.

By the way, tints were the best mod I've ever had done on any car I've ever owned. I wish I'd done it day-one. I thought about it carefully, obviously there are pros and cons, but for a summer-car with four doors, four seats, and six windows, it's a sealed deal for me.
When I buy my new tires il be selling my current summer tires cheap and they've still got tons of tread on them. I'll be posting them by late march.

What tires are they? Tread depth?

They're Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta UHP tires. 245/40R18.
I haven't measured the tread yet as I don't drive it in winter.

They're great summer tires, grip better in dry and wet than the oem tires and they're quiet. I'm only selling because I am planning on track sessions and I want a DOT track tire for street/track.

Nope, and since the wife will be up here for a week, I'm probably not going to be stepping outdoors much, except for smoke breaks.

Sigh... it's going to be a busy spring...

- Replace both rear quarter panels
- Install the Mazdaspeed wing
- Paint entire car
- Install new RPF1's wrapped in star spec rubber
- Get new rear springs for the coil overs and get that sorted
- figure out what ever the hell the causing the emissions CEL (likely a gasket)... or maybe just toss the RB MP on it again
- Get the COBB married and setup.. try and hunt down MM for the tune I suppose

And finally.. if I can make it happen for the right price... go to a 4.777 R&P. I need to find a guy who's good with diff's.

Wouldn't really apply to me because A) I daily drive a Miata. When the sun's out, the top is down. No farmers tan to worry about.

About the only tint I agree with is factory tint. You know, when the actual glass is tinted and not some film applied to the present glass. That's the only way I would accept tint.
Uhm Neo... You can't seriously expect me to believe that in the middle of the winter time, you put that top down when the sun is up, lets get serious here.

hehe J/k man. Totally respect your preference and i understand. I think they have a 70% or 80% tint which apparently would still provide the UV protection and heat reduction and would look factory i'm sure if you ever did decide the other way.

I agree. I bought my car with 5% back/quarters and 20% sides. I think it is too dark and i do most of my driving at night. I am going to switch out to 35% all around and look into 70% or 80% up front.

Take care.

Sounds good to me. You've seen them, they've got tons of tread left. I'll give you a smoking price too.

2hit6,

Are you installing that clutch/flywheel set yourself? If not, I'm curious what people charge for that... but if you're doing it yourself, let me know how you're going about to removing the transmission and all.

There's a few ways apparently, and I'd like to know what's best if you don't have a hoist

Nice clutch/flywheel. I run an ACT clutch with the BHR flywheel. The flywheel is nice and idles smooth but I don't know if I would do it again. It's barely noticeable.
Good luck with the install, when Dave did mine in his shop he got the clutch done fine but the flywheel was a pain in the ***. First the bolt that's holds it on is HUGE so luckily his buddy at Mazda lent him the socket for it. Then my oem flywheel didn't want to come off. It took over an hour before it popped off. I think that was just mine though because I've read where other guys got theirs off in a few minutes.

Yeah, probably just you. Usually it takes me just a few seconds to get off.

Wait, what?

Spring

I am a new RX 8 owner, drove the car for 2 weeks before it went in the Barn.
Wash, Wax, Stabilizer, oil change, battery charge every month.
Is there any spring start up procedures for a rotary??
I have stored a lot of cars but never a rotary.
Any suggestions or should I be concerned???

When I pull mine out in the spring I just take off the cover, unplug the battery tender and crank her up. I'll usually let it idle for a few minutes while I check the tire pressure and fold up the cover and then just take it for a good drive.
I'll try to fill it up again after about a quarter tank is gone just to get some fresh fuel into the tank but that's it for me.
The same process I did when I had my Miata.

I'm by no means a rotary expert so others may have advice for you but this is the fourth winter I've stored my 8.

My engine warranty is up in June so I would love to get a compression test done to make sure it's healthy.

Install:

- OEM factory appearance package minus the spoiler.
- Coilovers
- New sway bars and endlinks
- 25mm spacers with +45 Advan racing RS in Gunmetal

Maybe BHR ignition upgrade if I can manage to scrounge up $750!
