Clutch Issue - Toronto

Hey Guys,

I have an issue where I started my car this afternoon and as soon as I stepped on the clutch and pressed it in, it made a "click" noise and became loose.

Can anyone recommend a good service mechanic to resolve clutch issues? I heard a rumor that there was a warranty for some vehicles which was extended to 140k. I am at 170k so I wouldn't qualify.

If anyone has ever experienced a similar issue and knows of a good spot (North York or Toronto) to get it checked and resolved, please let me know!!!

Thanks
Henry

It's a pretty common issue with the 8's - a number of the vendors on the forum sell reinforcement brackets to prevent such a thing from happening.

You can pretty much go to any Mazda dealer to get this taken care of... I personally prefer Scarborough Mazda.. but whatever floats your boat.

That's a good price. Wish I knew. I took mine to Scarborough Mazda. They first gave me a quote of $378 then after the repairs, they mentioned they made a mistake w/ the quote and the final cost was $263 all in. $70 for parts and $160 for labor.

I like your deal better!

you should also ask if it has any warranty left. the clutch pedal assembly warranty was extended to 8yr/100k miles if i am not mistaken, so if it isn't an early model you shouldn't have to pay out of pocket.

Both Avante and Scarb Mazda mentioned this to me but when they checked my VIN and verified my km's, I didn't qualify.

No worries, Issue has been resolved and 8 is back on the road!!! :-)

Thanks for all the feedback!
