Car Covers

I've searched around a bit, but figured I'd get some feedback from people actually in my country and probably experiencing the same weather!

From what I've gathered, California Car Covers and Empire seem to be the most common other than the OEM one that I'm hesitant about for winter use. I know CCC will custom fit with spoiler and appearance package, but Empire didn't list those options so I emailed them about it.

I was looking at either getting the CCC NOHA material or the Empire Waterproof Car Cover (Size 3). To me the NOHA is more convincing and sounds like it would be more effective, but Empire is $100 cheaper.

My car is probably going to be sitting for about a month or two (hopefully no longer) outside in 2-3, maybe 4 (if it gets crazy) feet of snow so I'd want one that'll keep the snow/ice/water out more than anything else. Anyone have experience with these or have a better cover choice?

well... can't really comment on those brands... but from experience with the 7.. just be sure to clear off any of the snow that lands on the car... or at least as much as you can or it will soak through. Get your car rust proofed (oil coat) before storing it outside for some extra protection..

The CCC Superweave (essentially Gore-tex) has worked well for me for several Winters now (including last year when we had 6 weeks of contiguous heavy snow cover). I do run a bungie cord under vehicle to ensure it stays on in heavy winds. When the cover came off it was as shiny as when it went on. Pretty impressive actually.

Melting snow doesn't get thru, and yet because it's microfiber it breaths so no condensation issues.

I'm looking for one but indoors, the California Car Covers are pretty pricey, I'll probably get a crappy tire one as it is for indoor use, more just to keep dirt of it.

NEGATIVE!!! Plastic doesn't breath and condensation will ruin your finish!!!

You get what you pay for.

Is this usually a service that a dealer or shop can do, or is it as simple as it sounds? I've never actually heard of this before, but sounds like a good idea to be doing even if not storing it for the winter.

I'm still torn between the NOAH and Empire. Leaning toward the Empire one because its ~$100 cheaper and says "water proof" so it'll keep the direct water out but the NOAH is "breathable" so it shouldn't get the condensation at all. Hmm... Guess I have about a month yet to decide.

OEM covers (at least the US version) wont handle severe weather very well. I have this cover and rarely ever use it since it's SUCH a tight fit on the car. The vehicle better be super clean or it will most likely cause scratches.

take a look at these covers: http://www.covercraft.com/
click on Outdoor covers and find one that suits your needs
I use the Noah on a daily basis (well, for days that I drive the 8) and it is a GREAT cover.

^Sidewind Deluxe Car Cover. Bought the Medium for a little more space just in case. Have not tried it yet, I'll wash it with a lot of fabric softener before I put it on the car and then take to my local detailer, then into storage November 1.
