Time for boost...

hahah actually, I'm not too sure. I'm still waiting on a few more goodies before I even start planning. But in all reality, this probably won't happen until next summer. I'm away for most of the time...
Like you, I was also considering the RX8Performance kit. But given the amount of ***** I have availible for my car lately (obviously more than I did a few months ago lol), as well as the time I'll have invested, I didn't feel like venturing into unknown territory. The Greddy is a proven kit (with proper planning and effort) and well documented. Seemed the obvious choice. This or BNR.
Hows your kit been treating you? Once i do get all set up, we'll have to go for a spin through the winding prairie roads!!

Hahaha, yeah the kit is holding up great man, no complaints from my end other than now I've had it for 5 years and I want MOAR BOOST! I have one last map I'd like to try out before the snow falls here this weekend. I got a retune done by Brettus after I installed a new intake and my EBC this spring; had some "issues" that we've now gotten to the bottom of (of course right before winter).... but with the EBC she pulls like a bat out of hell! Hoping if the weather holds up for the next few days I'll be able to get it running to my 100% satifaction; basically just leaning some spots in my tune out that were running heavily rich.
Other than that, still attempting to get some authentic MS sides and I have a set of wheels picked out that I'm hoping to buy this spring.

Why not upgrade to BNR? It's well documented to have boost levels up to 300whp.
But I totally get your urge. I waited patiently and finally found an MM upgrade. And I'm sure if we cross paths, I'll let you take her for a spin! Just to whet your whistle lol
How did you find tuning with Bret? When I'm ready to start tuning, I'm considering him or Kane. I'd like to do my own, but I don't trust myself just yet! Doing lots of reading though.
And I think I asked in a different thread, but why did you decide to VTA? Doesn't that cause a harsh spike, dumping all the air?
And I believe you went with RX8Performance cai? That my intended route, if I don't find a cheap AEM!
Any luck finding MS skirts?

Kane is one of the top tuners in the country.
Brett is also amazing. You can't go wrong with either.
My appologies for jumping into the conversation but figured i should voice that.

Yeah I've heared good of both, I had an offer from Brett to retune my car earlier this year so I jumped on it, I don't have a single bad thing to say about it, it was well worth it. I'd be silly not to recommend Brett to you but at the same time from what I hear the experience with Kane would be just as good; especially if you already have experience with him.
The Rx8 Performance intake is fantastic and I saw a drastic drop in pre-turbo intake temps after installing it from the shitty stock GReddy hot air intake. I don't have the recirc fitting on mine though because yeah I'm VTA. I don't see any spiking or anything like that (only place it could possibly show up is maybe a rich spot during a gear shift but AFR's just lean right out during a shift anyways) and it runs just fine VTA. I did some research before I went that route and found that the HKS SSQV BOV because of its pull type of design worked just fine going VTA on this car (I've heard stories of people having issues with different BOV's when VTA). I don't have any real reason for not recirculating other than when I did my turbo install 5 years ago I was still in university and it saved me a few hundred bucks not buying the HKS recirc fitting and having to get a bung welded onto my greddy intake piping. Plus i just like the sound of a VTA BOV (ricer I know)!
My plan has always been to do a BNR upgrade and still is. It's just now that I have the car running exceptionally well I'm going to enjoy it and do some of the visual mods that I've always wanted to do (wheels, body kit). Almost a "it's not broken, so don't fix it" kind of thing. My plan is to upgrade in the next year or two though (gotta pay for a wedding/honeymoon in 2016 first!)

Yeah I think if I chicken out when it comes time to it, I'll send one of them a message.
I have an MS intake already, so I'll just fab up my own. But I also want it to look nice. So maybe I'll follow your route lol.
Oh congrats man! Just another big step! Does she know about your second love, your car?

Custom top mount gt35r
Tune will be done by Brett
This is, provided my car will be done. It's basically sitting in the shop until it warms up and my mechanic tackles it. So far he has the manifold mocked up.
Fingers crossed and hope to see other boosted 8s. Keep me posted as to when the meet goes down.

Let's get those baby's running boys!
Good choice on the tuning by Brett.... That's how I roll too and he is extremely accommodating/dedicated to getting your car running exactly as it should.

Life After 8K RPM....
Not boosted yet!! But that's the plan for winter 2016 :-)
For now, I am street-Ported + bolton mods.
Working on all the supporting mods in preparation for Turbo build :-)
It would be a pleasure to meet you guys and learn more about what my options are for going FI..
Cheers,

I believe RX8Soldier still has a GReddy kit for sale..... already north of the border in Manitoba which is huge and Greyhound is dirt cheap for shipping. I'll vouch for his rep as a seller and genuine good dude

Who does that?
