Brakes Question....Rotor Sizing

Im ordering my brakes, and My 8 is the GT so does that have the sport suspension? Cause its asking me to choose standard or sport suspension. The sport rotor size shows 12.something" diameter and the regular 11.7" i think. Can anyone help me out?

Sport Suspension

All Canadian RX-8s have sport suspension.

If yours is a US import, then all manuals are sport suspension, many autos are as well but some have the non-sport. Don't know the distinction between those well enough to guide you if that's the case.

If you don't mind me asking:
What kind of rotors are you getting? Where are you order from?

im picking up EBC sport slotted rotors with ebc red stuffs all around parts/install/tax included for $875 @ Kjohn Car Innovations I get all my stuff done at his shop except oil changes and other important mazda work, he does all my custom/aftermarket work

go with the EBC green stuff... those pads are amazing. Dust like a mofo though.

Have you tried the RedStuff?

i have front and rear ebc 3GD rotors and the green stuff pads (front and rear).
they do dust a lot but theyre awesome brakes, i got them at jrp when they had their summer midnight sale. i think everything came up to somewhere around $500, definitely a good buy :evil_laug

that comment just made me more confident on what I just purchased :) Im going with the redstuff the for the decrease in brake dust.

If you are planning to use the car on the track dont buy drilled rotors they weill heat crack. The rotor you want is either slotted or J slotted.

Mazda_RX804 03-01-2011 01:42 PM

They arent drilled, they are slotted and dimpled. I dont track the car, and I heard the same thing as you said that the drilled ones crack after time

Your going to hate Red's for the street. They squeel and dont work very well until they heat up.

I sold my buddy a set for his RX-7, daily drove on them for a week and went back to stock pads haha.

I sold ALOT of greens to RX-8 guys back in the day.

Mazda_RX804 03-01-2011 02:12 PM

Ya i heard they squeel for the first 5mins while they heat up but then they are quiet. I hear good about the green but I hear you get a lot of brake dust and I dont want that.

As long as you can deal with it, maybe my buddy is a pussy haha.

Hawk Ceramics are very quiet, very low dust and they still work as good or better then stock. I have used set for sale with plenty of life remaining.

Can you asking him if its true. If its only on start up and is tht in cold weather or all year? And how did they perform other than the noise
